   For Cowan, I'll say this. He played in GOJHL, so one step below ohl. The London knights saw something in him, and in ONE full season with London, he made it from the 4th line to the 1st line and played in most situations. The reason this kid didn't have many shots or points in the first half was because he was buried in the bottom lines. It takes most ohl players a season or two to go from 4th to second line, this guy went from 4th to 1st line in about half of a season.

   I'm excited for Cowan. He seems like the kind of player where the speed and tenacity are undeniable, and he bullied his way onto the first line of the London knights. It's not a knock on the other ohl teams, but usually, the London knights are the standard the rest of the ohl teams hold themselves to. If he stays in the ohl next year, he may end up exploding in terms of offense.

   As for kampf, let's not forget he already made 1.4 million. He's getting a 1 million a year raise, which is already buried with the salary Cap increase. With the cap going up over the next two years, his contract will look like better and better value. Also, I'm pretty sure I've viewed kampf as a more cost-effective version of Philip danault, and danault makes like 6 million per year. 2.4 for four years is a steal once the cap jumps, especially if he's tasked with 3rd line minutes. Pair kampf with someone with some scoring in them and someone else with some bite and grit like acciari, and that's a pretty good line.

   We need a few new up and coming Hyman, a few good up and coming Wilsons, those types. Trade Marner for a top 2 legit dman RH.

   Was Easton not one of the youngest guys in the draft 18 May 20 2023. First ohl season starting on 4th line and ended up on 1st line.

   3G 3A in 27 career playoff games and -1 last year's playoffs warrants $2.4 Mil per now?? I smell overpayment with Treliving getting desperate to fill the roster. He is in trouble. No Schenn, no O'Reilly, no Holl, no Kerfoot … Leafs are in trouble with Matthews demaning $15 Mil per and Nylander getting $10 Mil +. And next year Mitch will demand $14 Mil per, so better plan for that. What a hot mess!

   The Carey Price thing is not the first of its kind. I remember Bobby Clarke forgot Claude Giroux's name when he was drafted.

    It doesn't matter who the Leafs bring in if they're not allowed to play their physical game (by the coach).
    These are the players Leafs had during Keefe's tenure who just could not crack the lineup or were forced to play a different style of game while they were/are with the Leafs:

    Riley Nash, Zach Bogosian, Wayne Simmonds, Nick Foligno, Jake Muzzin, Kyle Clifford, Jordie Benn, etc.

    The only time Keefe seems to let the physical game happen is when they're down and desperate for anything (i.e. most of the Tampa series and games 3-5 of the Florida series after they were down), but we all know how that ended up. And let's be honest, Tampa was down one of their top pairing D-man, and Hedman was nowhere near 100%, and they still managed to keep the game close. The Leafs had no answer to the bang-and-chip-away tactics of Florida (zero reaction to our rookie going down multiple times until he went away with a concussion – downright embarrassing that no one bothered stepping up to any of those hits) because we simply were not allowed to hit them back (except for the few players like Acciari and Lafferty who clearly wanted to win).

    Keefe is in his last year of his contract, and unless he's completely ignorant, he probably knows the flaws in his style, so I'm still willing to give him the benefit of the doubt and hope that he adjusts to the style that wins during the playoffs.

    Why so much worry about what the roster is at the start of the season? We have made the playoffs handily for 7 consecutive seasons. I think we need to bide our time and pick up character players as opportunities present themselves between now and the trade deadline. Get the contracts set and keep an eye on the market for some big, fast, character to trade for.
