  1. Guhle is like a Josh Georges with a little more offensively. George's was an elite shutdown, defenseman and character guy, incredibly underrated. He should have got the C over Patchiorety. Guhle will pair nicely with a guy like Logan Mailloux in a few years, who Shouldl be a stud offensively but lacks defensively. Then Xhekaj will be a welcomed sight, pounding the snot out of guy's in front of the Hab's net! If that half pint they drafted at the end of the 2nd grows 2 or more inches taller and gains some weight, the Hab's will have an awesome top 4 in a few years

  2. He was captain of team Canada juniors before tournament was canceled, he was mvp of the whl playoffs, those are both pretty big accomplishments . I have no idea how good he’s gonna be , let’s be patient, he’s stepping into the best league in the world, no need to rush things and ruin his confidence.A second pairing, physical dman would be just fine

  3. Its fine, we live in an era where unless you're Makar ur trash so this isnt surprising at all. The most points Shea Weber ever had in the CHL was 41pts and also won playoff MVP (2005), ppl can talk all they want, he's gonna be a great player for the Habs.

  4. He's not over rated. He's a future leader and he's the type of top 6 dman ul want on a cup winning team. He's physical and he's got alittle bit of an offensive punch as well too! And he plays really good defence.

  5. If the Habs forward prospects turnout like we hope and Guhle is a solid shutdown D it’s a win

  6. 100% overated compared to jets he's not better then Heinola and Samberg.
You know who else played oil king Reinhart lol he will be lucky be a 3-5 dman.
People company or hoping will be a Webber or petryish player are crazy. Do they not remember Webber was 1# defenceman in world in Nashville

  7. Guhle is not an elite top pairing D man he MIGHT be a number 4 guy that does not really bring what the habs NEED.The habs need mobile D man that can move the puck out when in trouble in their own end.Non mobile D men end up as nothing more than guys who throw the puck around the boards or just dump it out but never good at creating a transition game.
The other positive trend a good quality D man has is a D man that can pinch up and read the game well instead of the MANY D men that back out quickly showing me they are afraid don't read the game well and don't help the forwards maintain an offensive structure.
Weber was not that effective for MTL he was slow non mobile.Sure Weber had a nice shot for the powerplay but was MTL's PP good >>>NO.Saying Guhle would be good just because he puts up 40 pts is a weak statement to make because IF and i say IF they have a great PP and a good scoring top end first line ANY D man would likely get 40 pts just by being there.Could he get 40 pts playing on the second line w/o PP time most likely NOT.

  8. I think it's fair to say that Montreal fans overrate every prospect ever hahaha
It's just the nature of this fan base. I'm a Habs fan and have been following the draft for over 20 years and the number of can't miss prospects that turn into nothing is astounding. And every single year this fan base thinks they've gotten the potential steal of the draft, and rarely do they ever work out. I believe Kaiden Guhle will be a full time defenseman who's low end ceiling is like a Joel Edmundson, but I think he can be better offensively than that.

  9. Ive seen this kid play a few times. He most definitely was drafted as a potential top 4 pro dman. Since his draft his progression has also definitely moved it up to a top 2. I dont see the comparison to Weber other than a potential top 2 dman, I do see Guhle as a more like Chris Pronger. Guhle by far is the hardest dman to play against not in the NHL at 20 yrs old. He is going to strike fear in the eyes of opposition coming down on him or going into his corner for the puck. Rare traits to have. As for his offense, he has also improved that part of his game too. How it matures into his pro game isnt a big concern. 25 pts and over 30 +/- Im sure will have the habs brass tickled pink….

  10. Guhle was one of 3 nominees for CHL player of the year but Lafreniere got the award…So a couple of years ago, he was so highly regarded that he almost was voted top player in Junior…In the past year, he was voted MVP in the playoffs…He's been on Team Canada junior national teams , which choose the best canadian juniors …What more does this guy have to do to show he can play hockey?? Nobody really knows for sure how good any prospect will do , unless you're talking sure bets like Gretzky, Lemieux or Crosby etc.etc.who are few and far between…We'll know soon enough if Guhle will become a great player…

  11. this guy, like a lot of prospects hasn't played a season in the nhl. this post and a lot of other posts speculate but have no idea how good or bad these prospects will be.

  12. I think he could become like a prime Ryan Ellis not like a Weber in terms of potential.

  13. I'll wait until the player hits the ice over the next five years before I decide. Until then he's a prospect. Everyone looks at points first when deciding if a player is a bust or not. Players who play on the PP get all the love for easier points. Whereas everyone else on the team has to get their points 5 on 5 .

  14. I don't think anyone really sees Guhle as a #1 d-man….he will be a great #2 to support an offensively minded defensemen, someone like a Quinn Hughes or a Subban type of player that always go ham on offense. Guhle will be the defensive pillar that can support that kind of player.

  15. If he’s a 20+ minute top 4 defensive D that can put up 20-30 points a year I’m sure the habs will be happy with him. Hutson also looks like he will be a good pp specialist in the future
