  1. Habs won that trade by far. At the moment at least. It depends on how Nazar pans out. Replacing Romanov with Dach is a fleece IMO

  2. Big reason Lou gave up the first was that Romanov is good friends with Sorokin. I think the Montreal GM knew this and made Lou pay a premium. Sorokin is now signed long term . Worked on a few levels for the Isles.

  3. Way too early to make a call now. But at this moment Montreal is ahead. In five years we’ll know who won it.

  4. It’s still not enough time but at the moment, the sweetener picks could change something in the future or someone could breakout. But for now

    Winners:
    1.Montreal
    2.Chicago

    Losers:
    3: New York

Dach was on a 54 point pace and looked very physically mature, he is only early 22 aswell so he has much room to improve. The one thing that could derail it is injures, but right now his contract looks great and Montreal should be happy.

Navar looked like a force at the summer showcase, but then again it is a summer league. He ran into injuries and only got 0.54 ppg in the NCAA which isn’t great for a D+1. But the summer showcase shows promise.

Romanov is looks like an ok defensive middle pairing guy, not bad, but both Dach and Nazar have way more upside while being younger.

  5. Uneven analysis. For the Isles, you say they should have kept the pick, but also mention they are an aging group.
Then you say the Habs taking Dach instead of using the pick was good because it takes years for a pick to develop, and you never know what you are getting. You HOPE they will become what you think, but it's a risk.
Why would this wait and see risky approach have been a better move for the aging Isles? That only makes sense if Yoda was planning to rebuild, which he clearly isn't.

  6. At this point a pick doesnt matter to the islanders cause! And they got a very good player who will get better and be here a long time!

  7. You know, even if you get the 1st pick, its not always a slam dunk guarantee! Many 1st rd picks fail and are out of the league! I think if you sw Lou,hed tell you he wouldnt have a problem making this trade again!

  8. Romanov will turn out to be the best player in this deal in the long run. Defensemen take a while longer to develop and Romanov is already progressing as planned. As an Islander fan who watches a lot of their games; he stands out in a good way.

  9. Tanking needs to be eliminated! So many things that shouldnt gappen they turn a blind eye to purposely!

  10. The majority of trades that happen involve a 1st rd! And when the team knows your desperate!

  11. Hawks rushed Dach unfortunately but I think the Hawks are very satisfied with getting both Nazar and Hayes. Hayes made a huge jump in the OHL last season. Nazar was injured but looks the part of a highly skilled top six forward.

  12. Got his name almost righg. Gptta put a little leb accent in there thats all

  13. Love when we look back at trades and drafts–I totally agree with your assessment of this deal, the Isles wound up with less than expected.
