I was incredibly bothered by this at the time and it still sits pretty badly with me today. I don’t think enough has ever come out to indicate whether it was Howson or Priest on the power trip, but I hope whoever it was looks back on this and feels remorse over shitcanning a guy for *doing his job well*.
I’m glad this bullshit firing didn’t affect Jim’s career too badly long term. The front office might not have appreciated him but I know the fans always liked that he’d ask challenging questions and respected him for it. So to steal everybody’s favorite proto-meme from Rusty Klesla, thank you Jim Day.

For those unawares, Orioles play-by-play guy, Kevin Brown, [was suspended](https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/mlb/orioles/2023/08/08/orioles-announcer-kevin-brown-suspended-mlb-broadcasters-show-support/70548573007/) for acknowledging where Baltimore was as a franchise and their record against Tampa Bay.
Back in 2009, Jim Day was let go from Blue Jackets FSN broadcast team for, well, [being honest](https://puckthemedia.wordpress.com/2009/05/21/blue-jackets-ditch-reporter-over-the-word-disappointing/): referring to losses as “disappointing,” as well as committing the cardinal sin of mentioning JMAC’s the night the CBJ clinched their first postseason appearance.
Ahh canceled culture strikes again
