“I spoke with Jeff & he was thankful. That doesn’t mean we’re gonna do things that are against our interests but if we could to do what’s best for ourselves AND the players, we’ll always try to do that. We hope that [NHL players] take note & wanna be a part of it.” – Kent Hughes today

TLDR: Sign with us, our GM is a nice guy for once!
We get a 4th instead of a 3rd or *maybe* a 2nd in order to tell the whole league that we do right by our players
I’ll take it
Not that Hughes ever wronged Petry, but bringing him back so he can send him home close to his family feels like Hughes is making it right.
Building a strong team reputation to help attract free agents is huge
meh i’d rather have gotten more value instead, remember when we traded Kovalchuk for lesser value just to make him happy? what did that bring us, jackshit lol
Went Wughes with another win. This guy doesn’t miss!
If anybody in the future tells me “we lost that trade” I’ll tell them to fuck off! We are sending a guy who gave a lot to Montreal for a while home, plus the players we got are not that bad. Finally the potential to get a better player was slim.
At 14:40 Hughes mentions that there is something he can’t divulge right now but that they can put Price on in-season LTIR. I’m intrigued at what other move he has up his sleeve. Maybe an undisclosed injury to someone making $3M – $4M?
Every deal Hughes has done has been a win win. O think he’ll be respected amongst both players and GM’s with his track record.

They’re taking note, you can bet on it.
If players are treated like Petry was, plus the excellent vibe that seems to permeate this team right now, Montreal is going to come off some NTC’s.
Solid move by KH, this had nothing to do with the return. He was already playing with house money.
Kent’s office always makes me think there’s a little easel out of frame that he’s working on a nice landscape painting on.
