Not to change the topic, but if the Canadians win the draft lottery and pick in the top-2, either Bedard or Fantilli, why would they want Dubois? They would have no need for him, both from an ice time perspective and a cap perspective. I wonder if Dubois would consider staying in Winnipeg if that were to happen? He might… because his dreams of playing for the Canadians would fly out the window.

We still have so many pieces, I dont see how we can infer helle would want out even in a hypothetical retool. I say retool because there isnt a GM alive that would start a rebuild with this much value in players and prospects. Good contracts too.
If the future doesnt look bright after these remaining 20 games and playoffs then some significant changes need to be made, but even then I dont see the jets being out of contention for more than a year or two following. Speculating that Helle's opinion on mandatory vaccines has some kind of sway in his decision to re-sign is pure fan fiction. He's a pretty reserved person and a consummate professional. I think he could stomach signing a contract that makes him the highest paid goalie of all time, on a competitive team, in a low-key province that affords him the ability to enjoy his outdoor hobbies.

If they wanted to keep him, they should have extended last summer. The only upside from losing him, in the long run, is he won't turn into the downside that Price has turned into… 🤷♂️
Making the playoffs this year is not a step forward. They had the talent last year and brought the same team back. Losing to COL in round 2 this year, totally different because they are a buzzsaw. Hammer is right about the US players. Covid was a shitshow, and just because you don't understand their issue with it doesn't mean it isn't a huge one!
Helly said he wants a cup. If no other teams with a better core make an offer then he might resign here. If someone with a better, cup contending core, and weak goaltending offers him a big contract he is gone.
I think the question should be would Bucky even want to sign in Winnipeg, if I was him I'd be looking to go to a legit contender and thats not in Winnipeg!!!
Late opinion: Yes, Paterson got a little excitable and talked over his guest more than usual. But I suspect that he was set on edge and taken aback by his guest: I myself was much more surprised by Hamilton's cynicism, sullenness, and defensiveness. I don't understand his suspicious, cynical tone, and negativity–and was surprised to see that he's a Winnipeg sports reporter. This conversation was far from a collegial, professional exchange… and I would say that Paterson was by far the more irenic and conversational of the two.
If this is typical of Hamilton's tone, I would think twice about having him as a guest again.
Connor hellebuyck wants to win a Stanley. I'm sure he'll leave if he gets the right team looking at him.
I love Helle, but the writings on the wall for this iteration team, and the jets have a couple interesting goalie prospects. Best to trade Helle, scheifs, pld, wheels and anyone else you can and try and reload with young pieces.
Helly wants to win a cup. And he also wants to be on a team where he doesn't need to stand on his head every night just to give them a chance to win. The Jets front office has made no effort to bolster the team in front of him, especially on the blue line, which means he gets shelled every night. The Jets have essentially wasted the prime years of Helly's career by being cheap. Why would he want to re-sign if it's just going to continue to be the status quo? If the Jets don't make some seismic moves this offseason, he is leaving after next season.
Wait, Scheif and Dubby are what keeps the shots down? Hahahaha! Let them go! Hopefully we can get something for Scheif, he clearly wants out. Dubois is so inconsistent…again, we can only hope we pick up something for him. I have to agree with Jeff though…I think Helly will want to go to a contender.
