I’m gonna throw out an unpopular opinion and say this is an Andre Tourigny L (possibly his only L)
When Jenik was called up with Tocchet, he was given ample ice time and actually produced.
With Tourigny, Jenik only got 4-5 minutes of ice time per night. When he didn’t make the roster after a good preseason in 2021, combined with the limited ice time in callups, Jenik felt 2022 was his final shot to make the roster. When he was called up, he took overaggressive penalties because HE FELT LIKE HE HAD TO MAKE SOMETHING HAPPEN.
His production in Tucson 2022 vs Tucson 2021 worsened because he lost all his confidence after being continually sent down. (in addition to injuries)
I really hope another team is willing to give him a shot. Jenik isn’t stupid, he realizes prospects are passing him on the depth chart and needs to go elsewhere to achieve his dream.

Also from further down the article, they’ll likely sign a ton of PTOs for the September 23 triple header, and the vast majority of the NHL squad (including Cooley and Guenther) will be headed to Australia.
