Borowiecki smokes Toffoli from behind, gloves drop immediately
Check out this dirty hit from Senators defenceman Mark Borowiecki, hits Tyler Toffoli from behind knocking him out of the game, and immediately drops his gloves in anticipation.
It's funny to see all the idiotic kids who don't know hockey try to comment on this play. Yes Toffoli turned his back and perhaps he shouldn't have. However, as the hitter, if you see numbers, you are supposed to lean up to avoid numbers which he clearly didn't and hit him straight in the numbers anyways.
He had quite a bit of time to lay off the hit but chose to hit him on the numbers regardless, obviously wasn't smart of Tofoli to turn his back on the play but that's not an acceptable hit.
I'd personally say that was intended to injure Toffoli. Sure, he shouldn't have turned around in the first place but not even John Scott would go clean from a hit like that.
We're taught as kids in hockey not to turn inwards into the boards on a play like that…NHL is a fast sport, boro had him lined before he even knew he had the puck and twisted inward towards the boards last second
2 minutes in you take a 5 min major on the road. 2 pp goals later and you're down 2-0. Game over. Sens played good but this bone head cost them the game. Love how the Sens fans say "good hit" You lost the game because of this idiot, good hit, wow…
Always go up to the boards on an angle so if your hit you can absorb it like. This turning your numbers to protect the puck is bullshit and not the way way to play hockey, professional coaches who preach this should be shot. This game has become a joke!
The issue I have with this is that he saw him coming, but still put his head against the boards. I'm not saying it's a good or bad hit, but as Don Cherry always says, you've to protect yourself.
suspension on this please? he had him lined up well before he had the puck, and never had anything but numbers. this was intent to injure in my book. he could have easily hit from the side, but he went for a dangerous hit that should have gotten him ejected
Punk ass b!tch! If he didn't do anything wrong, then why did he drop his gloves as soon as Toffoli dropped? Obviously intentional! What does the NHL have to do, put a stop sign on the players back? Nice… job pee-wee…. time to go back to juniors!
You're taught from pre-novice to pull up on a player with his back showing near the boards. Always dangerous to do what Toffoli did, but Borowiecki had more then enough time to pull up or change his angle.

Clean
Thats as much on Toffoli. Don't turn your back and that won't happen.
agree with every comment that says clean toffoli turned his back right as bowrecki was about to hit him smh
Borowiecki looks like he has the downs at 0:23–0:25
Lmao Borowiecki looks down syndrome
Wish that were Patrick Kane instead of Toffoli
I love the jersey. Like the player. And its a hit that he got himself into.
Your suppose to lean up on the hit if you see numbers he didn't lean up at all hope he gets suspended.
So what was the call
Ulol
That was such a clean hit right in the numbers how is that penalty
*See's him coming
*Decides to slam on the brakes and turn his back towards oncoming semi-truck
Yeah guys, let's get him while our teammate is still on the ground and can get stepped on. smh
borowiecki literally looks like beavis from beavis and butthead. ugly AF

Boardowiki at it again
why would you turn your back like that? what an idiot. especially when you see neil and boro are on the ice, you're obviously going to get hit.

My god Borowiecki is ugly.
Well he turned his back pretty fast sooo… remember toffoli did the same thing 2 years ago to burrows in the same type of situation
At least he stands up for himself after he plants someone, unlike Emelin.

Clean hit how hockey used to be too many vaginas playing hockey now! Thank Crosby and dozen more vaginas for turning a man sport into a vagina sport

Toffoli sees the hit coming, knows it will be a surefire penalty if he turns his back on him and he does.

Clean hit. Ice is just slippery
In the 90s, this was fine. Suck it up, kid.

Two games is fair, stupid and dangerous play.
How the heck to you pronounce this guys last name? Is it borowicky or borowietsky?

This is why he got speared.
