  1. Wow, the comment section is riddled with know it all insiders. Not everyone, but too many. Whom ever has this addiction hope they get the help they need so it doesn't have a lasting negative impact on his career.

  2. Oh come on Shannon, Olli Juolevi had a great year as a guy who just turned 20 years old. He got way better as the season went on and he ended up having 2 goals, 5 assists and averaged 22:57 of ice time in 11 games in the playoffs.

I moved to Turku in January 2017 and I've had a first hand look at him, he was a damn good defenseman in the Liiga this season. He didn't exactly dominate the Liiga but being 18th in the Liiga equivalent of the Norris is something to scuff at. He might be playing in the AHL most of the 2018-2019 season, which I think is good for his development, but you gotta give time for defensemen to develop. It doesn't matter how high they were picked. I still think the guy has a high ceiling. Compared to other Liiga players, he's a strong skater, great puck-mover and a defensive rock. I thought he used his size and reach well but didn' t over-rely on size and strength too much in puck battles either.

When that whole prospect video game addiction talk was all the news, there were people pointing out that he only played 38 regular season games this season. They didn't do their homework because the Liiga season starts in September, the teams play exhibition games and Champion Hockey League games in late August too. Juolevi's loan deal to TPS was confirmed on the 3rd of October, so he missed like 10 games there already with two extra games being missed to get into game shape and to adjust to the time zone. The next games he missed were in December and those were due to the WJC tournament and the camp to prepare for the tournament. He missed 8 games from early December to early January to takes his missed games total to 20. He was benched for a game after a horrible team performance where he was a -4, I don't think the blame for that one should be placed on Juolevi but what happened happened. He was benched for one more game and I really can't remember what that one was for, might've been for an injury or to give another guy some ice time or something of the sort.

I get the fact that Vancouver fans want a 4th overall pick to have an immediate impact but sometimes you need to have a little patience. Olli has shown that he can have success at different levels and I think the fact that he showed significant improvement in TPS this season is a big deal. Next he's gonna do the same thing in the AHL, adjust to the smaller ice surface again and adjust to playing again tougher competition in a different system. After that there's only the NHL left for him to prove himself and I think he's got the tools to succeed. It's always somewhat of a guessing-game to see whether he succeeds or not. Sorry I ended up writing a novel for you Shannon.

  3. I think it’s probably McDavid he just really didn’t play well this year and I don’t think he will crack the oilers line up next year

  4. Yeah thank you for mentioning that this is a junior coach saying this, people are saying Zach Senyshyn or Jakob Zboril but both have been in the AHL for the whole season lol

  5. Could we have drafted a better player? Perhaps, but is he a bust? Unlikely, many good players spent a lot of years developing before coming over and turned out to be great. Not everyone can adjust as fast as Crosby McDavid and Laine.

  6. I believe it's Dennis Cholowski the Detroit Red Wings prospect. Just based on his stats + him leaving the NCAA for the CHL… A lot of red flags.

  7. Why are people saying it's Hosang when he's not even on the canucks, he's on the islanders… I say it's BO Horvat, he has huge eye bags every game

  8. It's either Josh Ho-Sang or Max Jones, and even though I hated both players when they were in the OHL I really do sympathize. I lost a couple years worth of work to HUT addiction in NHLs 15 and 16. So much of my personal identity was wrapped up in my stacked teams, and I had no desire to put any sort of effort into anything else. The thrill of opening packs and/or beating someone else's carefully constructed team was such a rush.

  9. Michael Dal Colle picked number 4 few years ago and yet to even step foot onto the nhl ice he had so much hype and expectation but is yet to become anything

  10. How ironic would it be if the player was actually addicted to playing NHL 18 Be A Pro as himself and the why his real career is suffering.

  11. Rumours about Juolevi failing to have an NHL career due to a video game addiction. Canucks message boards are down. Coincidence? Also, how will the Canucks fare when they acquire Hanafin and sign Tavares and Kovalchuk? Also they will probably pick up the First pick from Buffalo. If the sports media are going to make things up, make up some fun things.

  12. Its MAX JONES, multiple sources have cited this for weeks. I never thought it was Juolevi, Jones has tanked statistically this year for a variety of reasons but its Jones. Forget the up and coming team stuff…he said "He’s a recent first-round draft pick for a very, very prominent NHL team"

  13. We will find out who it is in time. As soon as the kid plays normal minutes in the nhl and is good at the nhl level he will likely admit it in the future

  14. I've never liked that kind of cheezy "guess who" gossip reportage. That's grade school shit. I'll take your word he's a good reporter, but…

  15. By process of elimination they will figure out who this kid is, if they don`t already know. The higher ups probably know and the fans are left guessing.

  16. Anyone calling Juolevi a bust is a 15 year old kid who has no perspective on hockey and development.

I was on the record with all my friends prior to that draft as wanting Sergachev, but Juolevi will be a steady reliable guy for years to come.
