  1. I feel like they could be a lot better if they can stay healthy, more then most people expect, obviously I am not expecting playoffs or anything close to it. But if they can get a full season out of people like Dach, Caufield and Monahan, it will be a lot of fun.

Prerecorded? Rookie mistake when the Karlsson trade was just on the horizon when these started coming out. Obviously no one expected Montreal to be involve, but at least two of your videos were guaranteed to be irrelevant the second they came out.

  2. I don't know if Montreal got better over the off season. They lost nearly nothing, which is good, but Newhook and DeSmith are the only additions of note. That said, they led the league in man games lost due to injuries last year at 600. They could cut that number in half and still be above average. So if they are healthier, they should do better. However, they don't have the talent to make the playoffs, so even with they were the healthiest team this year, they still won't play any playoff games.

  3. You nailed it on the overall defense progression, including from the forward group.
Most interesting this year will be to watch how the defense and the team readies itself to integrate the future "star" (for lack of a better word) D core of Reinbacher, Hutson and Mailloux in the coming years. There is a certain set of plays and behaviours the forward group has to start toying with in close collab with the actual defense lads that will be of utmost importance when those D kids will be making the jump to the NHL. Lindstrom for instance is a smart addition to complement Kovacevic defensive work and offer some puck-moving similarities to Reinbacher's complete toolkit on yet another pairing, thus helping Harris and Matheson a bit more to emulate a system in which a Hutson could naturally fit, while Savard continues paving the way for a Mailloux and chaperon all those young guns. In parallel to all that, 3 guys to watch as they progress on their own will be Guhle, Barron and Xhekaj. Barron showed real flashes of brilliance but seems he maybe still needs a bit more time to keep growing, so i wouldn't be too surprised if he's asked to start the season in Laval.

  4. Not mentioning back to back record breaking years in injuries is kind of doing a huge disservice to the analysis. If they are only a little more healthy they will improve. "Defense was trash" no grav, defense was anyone who could skate so of course it's an issue

  5. Hoffman is in the forward lineup, yet not on the team. Also, this is DailyFaceoff… no chance Monahan is 4C

  6. The projected forward line up is cursed, Hoffman got traded (prerecorded obviously), no Harvey-Pinard, Monahan on the 4th, Dach not center on the 2nd, what website is being used for the lineups, cap friendly got it pretty solid.

Prerecording it a while ago saved the defensemen part, because of the Petry or no petry part and obviously the acquisition of Lindstrom, but he aint close to be in the lineup outside of evaluation purposes, same goes for the goaltenders DeSmith is probably a goner, but if they trade Allen instead this video will be completely dated within a few days of being posted and thats assuming Hughes wont make other moves.

Forwards if healthy : B- if not C-
Defensemen if healthy : B if not B-
Goaltenders if healthy : B with DeSmith if him or Allen is dealt C+

  7. Outdated take and the lack of mentioning how badly this team has been affected by injuries the past two years.

  8. Can you stop saying things like "there is NO WAY the Habs compete in that division"? Like, it show your total lack of professionalism. Game is played on the ice. Almost any team can surprise and make a real push. Sure they aren't great on paper, but they can certainly compete with an healthy lineup.

  9. I feel like saying the goaltending will be their strength is a hot take. It has been awful and an area that they need to fix

  10. I will never understand why hockey pundit never take the long list of injuries and players' growth into account when judging the Habs.
Weren't they on a above 80pts pace last year before all the injuries started to happen?
    Also, that's a "unique" line-up choice lol!

  11. I'm officially an old grump. I can't stand Gavs young upbeat energy. I've avoided almost all of the videos in this series.
