    Benning is disappointing. Couldn't sign Garland at a decent cap number. Now gets a 3rd round for Schmidt when everyone gets a way better return.

    Good deal for everyone. Was excited about Schmidt when he was acquired but predicted it may not work. Quinn dominates the D position on the PP, and a guy like Schmidt puts up points with aggressive forechecks, cycles and PP time… none of which were in the cards here. His personality is great but I don’t think he was a culture fit either. He spoke of trying to play video games to ‘hang’ with his teammates even though he isn’t a gamer. Just wasn’t a fit unfortunately.

    I wonder if we're trying to poach someone ourselves that has cap problems now that we seem to have a bit of cap space when we do sign Petey and Hughes

    I like it, esp with OEL here we're good for mobile D, and with the slight cap bind we're in it makes sense to make this move. Now sign Petey, Schenn and Hamonic JB!

    I wish Schmidt had opted to stay 1 more season. Wanted to see what he can really do, especially working with Brad Shaw. It was a down year for him and I think he will show better form with the Jets. Also wish Benning could have nabbed at least a 2nd rounder, but freeing cap space was the real goal. It's more apparent why Canucks are pursuing Schenn. More urgency to re-sign Hamonic now. Maybe Benning can move Myers…nah, that might be pushing it. Except for the core guys, Benning will have transformed the entire team by the end of the summer, looks like. Thanks, Clay.

    Canucks just created over 12 mil in space in 24 hrs. Have now over 24m in space after signing Garland. Petey and Hughes aside we're going UFA tomorrow. JB is in beast mode

    I would have loved to see another season of Schmidt in Vancouver, but ah well, such is the nature of cap space. Lets hope we take Hamonic and Schenn and lock down that D situation.

    Benning has pretty much bought out everyone he could so now it's for signing Hughes and Petterson and maybe Hamonic

    Likely Statsny persuaded his then (former) teammate to go to Winnipeg. This should end all speculation of offer sheets for Elias.

    Alot of work Benning is doing, quite nice to see the business side of it actually panning out. He's a little bit showing us the future 🤷‍♂️ maybe ? Just my opinion

    Jim needs to focus focus focus and sign Petey. He should have signed Petey before romancing OEL (the next bad Luoi-like contract).

    i like the deals but they should have waited out the holtby deal now that adds to next years cap. the other deals he has done so far make sense. Lets hope he doesnt add any more bad contracts as this just cleans up his old mess. I think they have some promise now. Lets hope he doesnt over do it and mess the team up for a decade.

    Good that they recouped a 3rd rounder. Weren't going to get much for him considering his salary and the year he just had. Good cap dump of a player who didn't want to be in Vancouver

    It seems he didn't want to be here so it worked out for the best for both parties. Bennings is doing a pretty good job freeing up the cap space
