Idk, he regularly is listed as a top defensemen in the league

Yeah bud, I miss hockey season too.

I’m a big lightning fan let me pre empt this comment with that. I was there live for their last cup and when they almost 3 peated.

    That being said,

Hedman is, in my opinion, the most consistent two-way defenseman in the league and is probably the closest d man to lidstrom we’ve seen since he retired.

But there are better d men who have come across in the last few years that are better purely on offense (makar, fox) and those who are better purely on defense (I can’t think of any right now but I wanna say Josi?)

So those are my thoughts. I’m gonna look up some d men real quick who are pure defense. I’d love to say power but he hasn’t had nearly enough time in the nhl for me to include him in a conversation yet. Maybe dahlin now that I’m thinking Buffalo d men. Maybe provorov.

NHL network has him as #4 in the league currently – saw that this morning during my workout.

    Makar #1, Fox #2, Heiskanen #3.

I don’t disagree with Makar, but the other two I’m “meh” on – despite that, Hedman at #4 still seems reasonable to me – maybe not the same player physically as a year or two back, but still a very strong player.

I think Serg was 16 or 17 on their list – found that interesting…

Hedman is kind of an older equivalent to Vasilevskiy. Excellent form, very consistent year after year, everyone recognizes they’re a standout player – but there’s always someone having a career year to take the “player of the year” title from them

Simply untrue. Nothing hard to swallow there as he is routinely put in the top 3-5 defenseman on every single list I’ve seen
