Dude was seriously underrated. Never understood why people preferred Reimer over him.

Jesus. I just looked up this guys stats and despite being largely a backup or at most a 1A/B tandem most of his career, the put up a .912 average throughout his career. That’s actually pretty decent.

As a leafs fan living in Buffalo, nothing made me happier than seeing him punch out ryan miller lol

He played 404 games in the NHL but it feels like he was around for way more.
151 games with us, guy definitely had his faults but he was also the started for some truly awful teams. Looking back, he had some pretty good stats. Enjoy retirement JB.

Funny Bernier story:
I was in Real Sports store (at the time ACC) and wandered over to section that had custom clothing designed by the players.
Verniers contribution was a blue suit jacket with the gaudiest Leafs inspired lining I’d ever seen.
Almost bought it, but they wanted $1,200 for it and I wasn’t going to pay that much to look that bad 😂

I was there when he fought Miller. I’ll always love Bernier. Enjoy your retirement!!!

The Good ol hockey game is full of lots of great fellas; and the best that ever played was Nelson Mandela

My man put up a .922 while playing behind the Franger pairing and relying on goal support from Jerry D’Amigo and 20-point Kulemin. And he punched out Ryan Miller. No complaints with his time here.

Pretty underrated for his career. Especially with the Leafs. Not usually great but always good. Won a cup backing up Quick with LA I’m pretty sure too!

He is one of the most known athletes in the world and a lot of impact in any kind of sport that he did. Even playing hockey, everyone knows him right. From being the type of person he was off the ice and on the ice. But you know he changed a lot while he was with us. He’s a tremendous guy.

People are likely going to point out the embarrassing Mandela thing (tried watching the video today and was so cringy I couldn’t do it lol). He was a massively underrated goalie imo though. I always thought he was better than Reimer.

I’ll never forget Tank Commander Bernier, he successfully helped the Leafs secure last place to get Matthews which I’ll forever be thankful for.
On a serious note congrats to him. He had a solid career and his first year as a Leaf he was legit great.

Guy was supposed to replace Quick and instead became a career backup. Was never a fan of bringing him to Toronto.

This guy will be a great coach in the future mark my words.
