If i'm not mistaken (maybe it changed) for the draft all the teams that don't reach the conference finals are ranked according to their season's rankings, so if ottawa reach the playoffs as the worst wildcard team and lose in the second round they would still have pick 17, which is still a good value in this deep 2023 draft for the yotes
The pick will range between 13-19. But I still like the deal for both teams. At the end of the day Armstrong got future draft picks for the rebuild, and the Sens get a much needed top 4 Dman to help give them a boost to their blueline and playoff chances.
It's funny that I thought the Coyotes would get a huge return for the Chychrun trade. It's not as huge that I thought it would be, but at least you get picks in return. The Coyotes should now start losing to get at least the top 2 pick because i think it's time the team gets a difference maker like Bedard or Fantilli. Michkov would be a great pick. If Arizona passes on him with their own pick. I feel Vancouver will take him because they're not afraid of taking Russians and have a history of drafting them.
