Yak was a first overall pick. He’s the bigger bust.
Icy-Pause-7513
Yakupov. He was a number one pick.
JERRYBOIZ
The answer is who’s the number one pick
ThicccGrizzly
Yak
EyeHeartBidets
Yakupov was a bust. Puljujarvi was just rushed too soon.
There was no fixing Yakopov’s flaws. I think Pul’s flaws could have been worked on in Europe before he showed up more polished. As it was he was expected to work on those while also adjusting to life here and adjusting to the speed of the NHL all because Peter Chiarelli was about to create a massive hole on the wing by trading Hall and signing Lucic
cakeschmammert
Yakupov easily
jfriedrich
Yakupov. The guy just couldn’t get going and stay consistent, especially as a 1OA.
Puljujarvi had it tough. Yes, for a 4OA he maybe should have been better, and yes he was probably rushed into NHL competition a bit too fast, but the poor guy was plagued with hip injuries that he couldn’t come back 100% from.

The answer is obvious so why ask the question?
oakandbarrel
Puljujarvi has to hurt more as they passed on Tkachuk.
Yakupovs draft the forward depth was horrible and the next 3 picks were all busts too.
Sketchy-Profile
One of them is still in the NHL..
NotNotLogical
We’re all going to say Yakupov because he was a first overall.
Sgt-Tibbs
Yakupov….I said it back in 2012 that he was a peak too soon and wouldn’t be anything and it turned out to be true.
EDM was too focused their stars and didn’t put the effort in on JP…had he started in Raleigh it probably would have been different. He has heart and seemed thankful for the opportunities he was afforded here just wish it would have worked out better.
Usual_Patient_7201
It’s gotta be Yakupov…no ? Dude did nearly nothing for being #1 pick.
Shiny_Mew76
Which one is still in the NHL and was a lower pick?
I’m not sure you can get much worse than Yakupov.
Darth_Tu
Yakupov by miles.
ScuffedBalata
Yakupov literally had memes.
“Fail for Nail”, and when Columbus lost the lottery and there were videos of people in Ohio literally crying because they couldn’t draft Yakupov.
ANYTHING short of a fairly high-end NHL player is a major drop.
makeanewblueprint
Yak.
Puljujarvi still in league and has some def skills.
gldmj5
Yak is a bust. Pulju is a meme.
numberonerangersfan
Yak was bad but puju played about a hundred more games and they got the same points
exfatkidblues
Oilers scouting department is the bigger bust here
Spencerboisvert911
Yakupov because he doesn’t lick his nose or eat his snot
Hutch25
Yakupov 100%
Such an incredible player in the minors who had this franchise type potential just being an absolute monster… and then once he hit the big league he was just a guy who couldn’t handle not being the best while also having a bad personality.
At least with Puljujarvi hes a great middle 6 option while also being a really good dude. He might be a bust, but he’s a welcome member of any team he’s on.
Like17Badgers
I think the oilers mishandled both of their trainings miserably to the point when Pully got to the Hurricanes the Oilers hadn’t even sent him on a language course to get him where he could communicate with his team
Drainutsl29
Rookie Yak was better then Puljuas entire career. 😰
foreskin_gobbler2
I would argue puljujarvi simply because it was a bigger mistake. Yak was the consensus #1 in a horrendously weak draft. The oilers could have had a much better player in ’16.
Bulletproof_35
Unpopular opinion: Puljujarvi Yakupov had a much thinner talent pool surrounding him. I think with McDavid and Drai he could be a decent NHL player. Jesse had those opportunities and still failed.
