  1. That's how a captain handles things. That's a class act. If anyone deserved that, it'sTimonen.

  2. disappointed this wasn't giroux passing it to kimmo in philly, but I couldnt be happier for him. Always a FLYER.

  3. Class!!! Toew's is a beauty and my best player in the world… McDavid if you want to pattern ur NHL career after anyone it's Captain Serious!! I can't wait to see my Oilers hoist the Cup 3-4 years from now the days of talking trash and rightfully so are over in Edmonton!

  4. Reminds me of Sakic immediately handing Ray Bourque the cup in 2001, gets me every time! Classy move by two very classy captains, mad respect.

  5. This is hockey in its purity. Hitting all of the feels, for Kimmo going through Hell and back. I love the humility of Timonen asking "Who's next?" just seconds after he hoisted it, and Toews telling him to skate. Well deserved, Kimmo.

  6. It's what's inside that makes Toews the better option, sure Crosby is the best player in the world but when it comes down to it this Hawks team would not be the same without Toews. It is the way he plays and how competitive he is that is contagious throughout the team. Switch Crosby and Toews teams for the past 6 years and it won't make a huge difference at all, sure they each might have 1 cup, but it is what's inside Johnny that makes him and his teammates so good. Watch him for play for a season and you'll understand, the look in his eyes, the laser sharp focus, Crosby be a better player all you want but when it comes down to it, I want Toews. You think Messier, Yzerman, or those guys were the best and most skilled in the league when they played?? No they weren't, but they just knew how to win and to get men to follow behind them and battle to the final whistle. That my friends is what is the difference. Sid is the best, but Toews is the better choice. Also no offense to Crosby I'm sure he is a great leader and competitor but it's just something natural with Johnny, don't believe me just watch.

  7. Almost like arguing KD vs Lebron, sure KD is the better and more pure scorer, but you would take Lebron simply because he is a winner, and you can see come playoff time the look in his eyes, and how no one one the court is trying to win harder than he is, and that causes his men to follow that lead, which in turn creates a team of warriors and champions with the same fighting spirit as Lebron. And that is very difficult to beat, so again it is what's inside these guys that make them better, there skill is obvious but fighting spirit, and persistence is what puts and keeps them above. All the games greats have the same intangibles, look for yourself. With every winner you will see undeniable evidence of will to simply refuse to lose. And that is so contagious, if you've ever played sports in sure we've all had a player like that on our team or maybe even have been that player yourself. Anyways I'm rambling just trying to make a point il using a different approach.

  8. Players like Alonzo Mourning, Jerome Bettis, and Kimmo Timonen had to fight and wait for their respective championships. They conquered!

  9. I have probably never seen a more clear case of the differences between the American and the Finnish temperaments, but it all just came together so nicely when Timonen got some encouragement to shake off his humility and really enjoy the victory he had paved from the shadows. The moment felt "authentic", I don't know how else to describe it.

  10. Every day I dream Ovechkin will get to erase years of misery with one raise of the cup, sadly a good chance it won't happen

  11. Huge Flyer fan and I was happy to see Kimmo get it, especially after his situation he had with blood clots and what not. Toews was first class for doing that

  12. Kimmo Timonen and the Stanley Cup. Don't you just love how a plan comes together? At Philadelphia they probably told him: "Dude, you have to GO! This is your last chance to get that Cup. Give it one last ditch effort and make it count!" I'm pretty sure the Hawks didn't want to win for themselves as they wanted to win for Timonen. The whole damn league – aside from the Bolts at that point – wanted to see him lift that cup.

Or then I'm just a hockey romantic.

  13. I love how Toews tried to get Kimmo to come with him to claim the Cup from Bettman. Kimmo a typical Finn didn't want the spotlight. I'm glad Toews didn't take a no for an answer and Kimmo was the second to hoist the Cup. What an ending to a career!

  14. I was watching the rerun of the 2015 cup final and even though I already knew it would happen, when Jonny handed that cup to Kimmo, I got chills and felt tears in my eyes. A great moment in Blackhawks history.

  15. Man, good memories! It’s so nice to see the hard working captain of the Hawks, Jonathan Toews lift the Stanley Cup! It truly is the greatest thing in sports! Seeing your team finally or once again win a hard earned trophy in front of the cheering crowd of fans, as “We are The Champions” or some other victory song plays in the stadium! That is truly what makes sports so fun to watch and enjoy!

  16. Nice move from Toews🙏❤ to give the Cup to Timonen like a real gentleman👍🏻 Its was Timonen last game for his career!
