  1. Leafs would be asking for Romanov, he is exactly what their looking for on the backend.

  2. I follow/watch hockeybuzz … very little for eklund ( thought he does have entertaining moments & seems like a good guy ) but the insiders like Mike Augelle, Russ Cohen & Kevin Allen whom are more in the known then eklund for nhl stuff.

As for this rumor … yeah … its a headscratcher … and a usual " ek " posting.

  3. I go to eklund's site for the entertainment. Like James Tanner article s, just a lot of hot air

  4. Willy goes anywhere it must enable a stud acquisition on the backend. Any lesser result will be pointless further magnifying management incompetence particularly that Shanahan's futility should have seen him first out the door.

  5. Eklund is wrong 99.9999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999% of the time

  6. Truth be told, when you start off your video with we're going to talk about a ridiculous rumour, I just shut it off. I hope people will start making videos of things that are real and not just rumours

  7. It seems to me that some people continue to question moving Matthews or Nylander saying that you won't get back a fair return. My take, for what's is worth, is that if you trade Matthews, (with his salary increase next year) you get back 14 mil or so of cap room back to spend on more character players. Just doesn't seem so bad to let him or Nylander walk if necessary. Just my thoughts.

  8. Why not just sign Nylander with the intention of trading him next offseason

  9. Having two smallish wingers as part of Leafs Core 4 – a weakness explaining much towards – Leaf continuing playoff disappointments.

So trading either Marner or Nylander (or both of them) – is very much a step in the right direction.

Leafs at least are built for regular seasons – at least Leaf fans enjoy that.

Maybe you are right – Leafs might just go ahead and overpay Nylander to keep the Core 4 – like you suggest. They have made questionable decisions like that in the past.

  10. The leafs trade rumor with leafs and Islanders that the lslanders are eyeing William Nylander and the trade rumor as William Nylander and Timothy Lijegren prospect player or Calle Järnkrok and a pick and Kyle Clifford to the Islanders for J.G Pageau at 25% OR 50% if the Islanders eat caps or a 3 team may be in the mix and Noah Dodson 25% or 50% and Matt Martin if it true or not we will see? The other team in the rumor that it could be the Blackhawks and leafs are rumor to be eyeing Andreas athanasiou and Conner Murphy and the leafs are trying to off loaded T.J brode' cap hit and replace T.J brode with a better player that may work well with Morgan Reily and the Blackhawks maybe will to take T.J brode off the leafs hands for right price and the Blackhawks want leafs 1st round pick in 2024. The Islanders are looking a top right winger because Islanders's right wingers are not doing good and the Islanders want to upgrade and William Nylander fits the bill for the Islanders and Islanders GM know William Nylander when Lou was the GM of the leafs and Lou needs a guy like William Nylander on the Islanders. so why not go out get the guy you want on your team? In the trade rumor that leafs are close to sign veteran forward Paul Stanley to a 1year contract at a 750k aav. it maybe a two-way contract for Paul Stanley from the rumor said but rumor wasn't shore if it was true or not.

  11. Another Great video Andrew I like the look of our leaf team this year am not 100 percent on are D core to be honest. The Willy and Matthew's contracts have to be figured out before the season starts because are media in Toronto will be a huge distraction for are team all season about these deals witch could effectively kill our season just my thoughts

  12. For me, the Nylander to NYI trade starts with either pelech or pulock. From there we can talk about it.

  13. Can I ask why your so far to one side? Is it because you want the two leafs jerseys to be the focal point? I feel like you being in the middle and a jersey on each side would look way better imo.

  14. What is the choke Maple Leafa organization going to do are they going to return John Travarse back to the NY islanders 😂😂😂 it's no wonder the Leaf

  15. It makes a ton of sense if Noah Dobson is coming to the leafs.I believe Dobson is the best defenseman on the Islanders.Dobson and Pageau for Nylander make the leafs a better team.Pageau is just a throw in to help alleviate the 40 goal loss of Nylander by contributing 20 goals.

  16. I dont see a NYI trade making sense. The NYI wont part with Dobson and that would be pretty much the only piece on that team I would consider taking back , maybe Pulock. NYI have a decently deep Defence core but theres a drop off if they start moving a guy like a Dobson or a Pulock.
Im not sure Toronto needs to move Willy right now. Its not that type of situation. 6.9M is a KILLER cap hit for a guy going to be putting up 40-50 goals playing on a second line with 1st PP. I think had the leafs not signed Klingberg then Dobson may have made sense. However I just dont see them wanting both. Obviously if they get Dobson he would be 1RHD, then you have Brodie then Klingberg. I really dont wanna pay Klingberg 4M to play 2nd PP and 3rd RHD. The Only way I see it happening if theres a bigger trade involved. which makes it more confusing and unlikely.

I personally think Nylander will end up with a 1 year deal in the 8.25M range, Then they can revisit this next offseason The Tavares contract will be off the books at that point as well.

I truely believe theres going to be a Jarnkrok trade before the season starts. Same with TImmins. they cant afford to pay him 1.1M, I was thinking it may be Liljgren , However, if they can fit it id much rather have Liljgren as backup at 1.4M then Timmins at 1.1M . However they may need to use Liljgren as the piece to bring back the Defencman they want with salary retained so. Who knows will have to wait and se..

  17. A friend's boss, who is buddies with an Islander staffer claims the rumour from the Islander side is Nylander & Brodie for Mayfield, Wahlstrom, Pageau & a 1st. So this is like "my sister knows a girl who's accountant's 2nd cousin is tight with laundry guy for the Islanders" kind of source reliability. In other words, close to zero. Why would Lamoriello do this deal? Yes, he needs a bonafide scoring winger, but unless he can extend Nylander (assuming the Isles are not on his 10 team no-trade list) then why do it?

From the Leaf perspective, it would solve their cap issues, give them a big, fast, heavy, 23 yr old former 1st round RW with some upside, a very big nasty D-man who is 30 yrs old & signed for 8 x 3.5M & Pageau, a centre, for 2 more yrs @ 5M aav. I admit Mayfield at 6' 5" & 220 lbs is a Tree type of D. Has Lou actually lost 'it'? He did sign Engvall to an 7 yr deal at 3M aav, so there's that. Unless Lou's got permission to talk to Nylander to extend him, this is BS. The weird thing is, I would do it if it was true as it gives the Isles a star winger, a reliable experienced D with more offensive upside than Mayfield. The Leafs get tougher, but lose at least 20-25 goals from their production. Some view Bill as a 'clutch' playoff guy, but I don't, as he doesn't play meaningful D, hit anyone or block shots. He's the only 'core 4' guy who is movable, so take a serious look at moving him. He's NOT worth 10.5M aav, his alleged ask, IMO.

  18. Fun idea. FYI Nylander only has a modified NTC. He can only block 10 teams and so I doubt the Isles are on it
