  1. Good signing by the Bolts to extend Hagel long-term; he's only going to get better IMHO. As I stated in the posted short earlier, If Mailloux has done all that was asked of him, then he deserves a chance to play in the NHL. The Nylander situation with Toronto is an ongoing saga–his huge salary is a problem with so many teams up against the Salary Cap, and, unless the Leafs move out other $$, I don't see how they can retain any $$ on Nylander to facilitate a trade–seems to me it will have to be a 3 team deal where another team, like the Coyotes or Hawks, with cap space, gets involved. Thanks for another excellent report.

  2. This just in……. The moment Nylander asked for 10 million was the moment he asked to be traded. All the way back to July 1st don't ya think ? ( 4 x 10 million dollars players on one team tipped me off nobody had to say it)

  3. Hagel is one of my favorite players. TBL knows what they are doing. I think he will get the 'C' one day.

  4. Matthew's will be traded to the coyotes … yes, the coyotes, who will magically find the money to build a new arena without a dime of welfare public money. The land will probably be given to them but that's it. Poor old owners and players, having to build their own workplaces, lol

  5. Leave Matthews alone… he’s having a hard time deciding if he wants to sign an 8yr deal with a 56 year cupless team. A.k.a Maple Losers.

  6. I don't know if Holland would want to stay on as a consultant in Edmonton. That was his role in Detroit when Yzerman took over and he didn't enjoy it at all and left to find a GM job elsewhere.

  7. I don't know how others feel, but I'm so sick and tired of Matthews and Nylander holding things up contract wise. I know they play the game put their bodies on the line night after night, but if all they see are the dollar signs then go, and let the leafs use the cap space to get players who want to play for the club.

  8. Ducks don't have the cap space for Nylander they haven't signed Zegras yet or Jamie Drysdale. Those two will eat that cap space up. I like the idea of Calgary, but they'd have to work magic to make the money fit.
Toronto has created a culture where taking big money and short-term is okay. Other teams don't operate that way. It's going to take a culture shift to change anything.

  9. Matthews needs to go,no way he should get that much, when he playoffs start he goes away, soft as butter when it matters most.

  10. It is sad to see a grown man, condemning teenagers for their actions, and not self reflect on his actions, as he was a teenager

  11. EVERY video you make features a huge picture of Nylander and the ridiculous "rumour of the day"….. Simply for views and clicks. He's staying in Toronto, playing out the season. End of. Get some new material 😂

  12. Like i said before Nylander is the best value player the leafs have and the only one of the big four forwards they can trade, to make cap space for way better than Mcdavid, Auston Powers, the most powerful leaf ever to land in Hog town. Mcdavid= $81,699 per point. Auston Powers= $136,944 per point. In Toronto points are worth way more just cuz. lol And the talking heads think he is going to get $13,500,000- $14,000,000. Wow he is a special player. The reason he and others are signing for more short term deals is that they are getting the money they ask for so why not increase their options. When their contracts expire they will be able to sign with another team that isn't cap strapped win a cup, or maybe hell will freeze over and the cap will go up 10-12 million in the next few years and they can cash in then with a guaranteed to be massive 8 year deal which of course will be an absolute nightmare of a contract for the team that makes that mistake. Toronto is a special place these days. Harold Ballard is rolling over in his grave as we speak and O'dog is channeling him, lol.

  13. Nylander asking for more than M Tkachuk is a joke. Of course, the Leafs overpaid for Marner so him and his agent know who the mark 🤡 is in the NHL
    Toronto knows nothing about winning

  14. The Leaf Executives have been so committed to this Leaf Core 4 – no one should be surprised if Nylander signs for a $10 Million extension.

It is Auston’s choice to leave – and in a way some see it as the natural Karma outcome – that Leafs should loose Matthews after NY lost Tavares in the same way.

Winning trumps everything – but players leave Toronto for a real chance to win.

  15. As a Flyers fan Couturier & Atkinson i think it depends hiw they play and how much rust they have . Both are said to start the season at the trade deadline depending where the team is in the standings is what do . If Couturier & Atkinson can play a little bit they can maybe get one of the bottom spots and if they can't then so be it . I think this season Hart should be given 45 to 55 games and stop having him play to many games in a row . The last couple seasons when he played to many games in a row he got hurt . I think Petersen should be given a chance to bounce back it's a rebuild and anything can happen .

  16. I hope Nylander and matthews take the leafs to the cleaners. I would bring immense joy to the rest
    of us

  17. Like a lot of leaf fans, I'm tired of all the bs associated with #34, 16, and 88. Sometimes it's tempting to say get rid of all of them, and get some players with heart and soul instead. Don't think they'll ever win anything with these strong "character" guys anyway. Hopefully I'm wrong. Wouldn't be easy to replace Nylander's offense, but they have to do something.

  18. As a Leaf fan I totally agree with u when it comes to the Matthews situation. 2 yrs ago if y asked me I thought if he didnt sign an extension right now I woulda traded him for the maximum value. With Duabs fired & Treliving hired it puts a whole itch to my interpretation on the situation. Lets see what both Nylander & Matthews do in their contract year.

  19. If the Leafs give Matthews more than $12.5 million then good-bye Stanley Cup! If Nylander's time is up then Matthews can take a hike for causing it!

  20. I don't blame the players about trying to get as much money as they can. But I don't think I'd want to be locked up that long on a Canadian team. That's a pressure cooker market up there.

  21. Tons of pressure..Taxed through the teeth.. or an easier life without pressure and more money in the bank. Go figure.

  22. Thats exactly why the Leafs are going nowhere with the Leafs big 4….they are all about them, not the crest on the front. Trade them all.

  23. All the summer trade talk about Nylander is played out , when it happens it happens. Then the talk of who won the trade will be the hot topic lol . Gotta love the armchair GM . Cheers 🇨🇦

  24. Too soon for the Ducks to be signing a big-name free agent. Maybe after next year when many of the young pieces start to be put in place but right now too many variables. Plenty of very good free agents becoming UFA's in the next couple of years. Wait it out and if needed sign a good player allowing all those assets to be used on the team or for future picks/players.

  25. Matthews doesn’t owe the Leafs anything. If he decides he wants to walk in free agency it certainly wouldn’t be anyone’s fault but Shanahan’s. He granted him the No move clause (that kicked in after July 1 )and furthermore never made any
Hard decisions. Words aren’t commitment. Ink is. It was he who put Auston in the drivers seat.

  26. Non-Leafs fan here. I have always hated Willy Nylander. Soft, one-dimensional, not a great playoff guy, controlled like a puppet by his greedy old man. I would not want him on my team.

  27. No wonder star players want so much money to play in Toronto.. they get so much attention (often negative), scrutiny and sometimes borderline harrasment from media and fans.. sure you can get some sweet sponsorship deals to make even more, but those seem to all be going to the other core fore players and not nylander

  28. Babcock raised them. You don't take discounts putting up with that. Now the behavior is set.

  29. It is the second time Nylander has delayed his salary claim. Agree, is hockey or money more important? He should be ashamed!

  30. Let Matthews go and retain Nylander. This is the way. Matthews might enjoy playing hockey sometimes but he doesn't care about a cup or much of anything I think. Maybe money.

  31. Jeff O'Nell….during his late career stint in Toronto, judging by his his play he had already retired. ALL players say the same thing as they approach UFA. Why pick on Matthews? At the end of the season, Matthews will have played for eight seasons. How much more time should the Leafs and fans expect from him.
