Also, now that this is taken care of, once they get the McLeod deal done, these two are what's been handcuffing them from making other deals/signings. This is huge for them.

I´m still worried about who´s gonna do all the defence in this team. Is old and past his prime Ekholm really edmonton´s best chance? I feel like they should have traded Nugget because he had a career year and all time high trade value. Imagine something like Nugget traded for Necas and Pesce from carolina. You could really get an elite defensive d-man and a solid 2nd liner for Nugget.

The bridge deal also makes sense given what the cap is supposed to do in the next couple of seasons. Bouchard can absolutely cash in when this contract is up and that cap has skyrocketed.
The only thing that's rough about this deal is the fact that Oilers will have to run a short bench. Bouch is worth it though.

Edmonton still needs at least one more defensive defensemen. This is team is over-reliant on Ekholm-Bouchard, and lets be honest here, Nurse-Ceci is a painfully weak top pair. Holland should've never traded Ethan Bear. They need players like him now more than ever.

the thing I think many people forget about offer sheets. is the player has to want to sign it as well. for a player like Bouchard why would he want to go play for another team when he gets to qb that pp.

Good signing, while Nurse is still 4M overpaid … but it is what it is, hope Nurse can play like a 6M man this season.
2 years will bring him right to Leon’s contract year then McDavid a year later. If Bouchard is good within these 2 years he will want big money so I hope Holland will factor in the Leon and McDavid deals into the cap with Bouchard. But for now having Bouchard back for 2 un worry years is good. Oilers have 2 seasons to try and win the cup clocks ticking.
