This is actually a bit of a blessing. It’s become a lot easier to see whos opinion to actually take seriously based on their takes on this. Beaverton killing it per usual.

If you told me all of the quotes in this article were based off real tweets/comments/etc. from people I’d believe you one hundred percent. I’ve seen so many stupid things said the last 24 hours or so, the worst probably being the geniuses who claim Matthews is paid too much and should have taken less than his previous contract. Cause a guy who made $11.6M a year then won MVP (Hart and Ted Lindsay), two Rocket Richards and is a multi time All Star with First/Second Team selections will totally be taking a discount in pay at the age of twenty five… get real.

There’s also people claiming that he’s greedy and should be more like McDavid and MacKinnon, you know, two guys who upon signing their extensions became the highest paid players in the league based off cap hit. I guess it’s cool when they do it but supposed to be a sign of Matthews being greedy and selfish when he does the same 🤷‍♂️ oh well you can’t win with these people, if Matthews signed for $12.5M or something like that people would just turn to calling him injury prone to try and justify why it’s a bad signing
