Always worth remembering that he was the best sniper of all time early in his career, and it was 80 games a season during his prime. His game changed as he aged and decided that he’d rather shoot for 200 points with 20% in goals than 200 points with almost half in goals while taking injuries. Bet he’d have the goal record closer to 96 in a season if he was healthy for all 80 games in 83-84. If he were doing 82 games a year, Ovechkin might not have a shot.
The guy was nuts.

“Wayne’s done everything but goal, but he mostly plays defence. When we think we need another goal, we’ll put him up at centre.”
Same article also says he played the full 45 minutes of their games.
