Florida’s iffy regular season was followed by a great playoff run. What do they do for an encore?

Biggest Needs: surviving early to get key guys back; consistency in net; adjustability in scheme and flexibility during the playoffs.
I'm going with them missing the postseason due to injury absences in the lineup. Fans will pretend like that's a wildly bold claim, ignoring the fact that they almost did that very same thing last year.
They not only had nothing left when they got to the finals but had no answers for Vegas and couldn't compete, steam rolled!
Personally, I think first half might be a little Rocky for Florida. (Mostly due to injuries to guys like Tkachuck, Ekblad, and more). However once they get back, I expect them to be what they are advertised as.
Not sure where they will finish wild card or miss playoffs for me somewhere between 3rd-6th in the division those injuries are gonna really make a tough start to the season plus it's not uncommon for the team that losses in the SCF to kiss the playoffs the following season
When your averaging 3.33 GA, your goaltending needs to be better!
And like the rest of Florida, Bobrovsky heroics went south in the finals
I think it's gonna be hard for them to replicate last yrs playoffs! Not toention, the only qualified playoff team in the conference that hasn't gotten better and actually got worse is Boston!
Sure Chicago beat Pittsburgh but that completely disregards the insane run we had to end the season. 12 points out of a playoff spot in mid January and ended the year on a 6 game win streak.
Does it matter!? Talking about how Florida did during regular season!? Well, how did Boston do!? Did it matter!? When it counted, Florida played above their heads in playoffs and Boston flopped and imo, I think it was partly after having the best regular season in NHL history, they kinda expected the cup to be handed to them!
Imo can't really continue to call Bobrovsky contract expensive! What is Hellybuyck gonna get!?
Part of the reason trading Weegar bewildered me so much was that I thought they didn't have a top 2 defensman that could stay healthy without him, and now Montour and Ekblad, 2 good top 2 defensmen, are both hurt long term. Adding OEL and Kulikov I think is reasonably smart, they should be fine stop gaps, it really comes down to how Bobrovsky does in front of a very mediocre blue line without Ekblad or Montour, if he can have 1 more really good season I see no reason Florida should miss the playoffs necessarily
Better depth than last years team so they should be fine. Go Cats.
Something in the way
Soon we will see his mug
I'm not going to lie I watch a few others talk hockey basically talk in circles I wanted to 💩 blood in 3 minutes THG gives the best PowerPoint presentation
I'm tired of hearing that if Pittsburgh beat Chicago they would've made the playoff. The fact is even had Pittsburgh beaten Chicago and Columbus both, Florida still could've made it if they won their last game against Carolina (a team they swept in the conference final) because they owned the tie-breaker over Pitt. When they played that game the Panthers were already in so they didn't need that game.
I could see a scenario where this team is out of the playoff picture at the all star break. The question will be if they can get themselves caught back up after their injured guys come back and the finals run hangover ends. Great goaltending had this team looking better than it really was down the stretch and in the playoffs. When Lyon and then Bobrovsky came back to earth we saw that they really aren’t on an elite level. They’re in tough with Buffalo Ottawa Detroit and even Montreal nipping at their heels.
Lundell is maturing into a reliable forward and I can see him this season reaching Reinhart's production points of last season.
I'm surprised Reinhart ended up top 5 after having a horrendous start to last season.
Should I draft him again 🤔
Duclair played 25 regular season games last year wouldn’t call that up and down 😂
I know this probably isn't the place to ask this, but are we going to get the rest of the 2023 Team Jersey Collections?
Former Flyer out, former Flyer in… to back up a former Flyer.
the defense needs to be better
Honestly I’m tired of hearing about how if they where in the west they wouldn’t make the playoffs. They did and the other teams in the west didn’t make it for multiple reasons.
team defense back in own zone after active forecheck
Im curious to see if Florida is actually as good as a stanley cup final run would imply. Im on the side that that run was Bob going super sayian and the moment that ran out they were back to being the team that had no business being anywhere near the finals
Disappointment of the next season…
President's trophy, coaching change, SC Finals. People thinking that this team was just a lucky also-ran last season are sleeping on them. I don't see them finishing lower than 3rd in the Atlantic.
could be a top 3 team in the atlantic if boston drops a notch or 2. otherwise they are in the wildcard race.
playoff fatigue could be a thing but it's not like they have had deep runs every year. should be okay
I thank the Panthers are not gonna be in the Stanley cup Playoffs in the 2023-24. They're gonna miss the playoffs. And i think that's what the Panthers get for ruining the Leafs revenge tour last season
Not a predictable team. Similar situation to Bruins last season but cap issues in season and they will miss Duclair's speed. Slow team, more suited to playoff game. Not at all sure they will make the show.
Thanks Shannon as always for your detailed coverage of my favorite team. Can’t wait for the season to start! Let’s go Panthers!!
