In the 11th and final episode of the countdown to the NHL’s best prospect pool Hadi and Sebastian discuss the pipelines of the Blackhawks and Blue Jackets. First, they take a look at Chicago’s pool headlined by Connor Bedard, which does include a handful of other high-end prospects such as Oliver Moore, Frank Nazar, Kevin Korchinski, and Nick Lardis. Next, they explain why the pool with the league’s best prospect was unable to unseat Columbus at #1 due to the combination of impressive depth and a wealth of high-end talent such as Adam Fantilli, David Jiricek, Denton Mateychuk, and Gavin Brindley. Last, they unpack their overall ranking and look ahead to next year to see which teams are likely to rise and fall in their prospect pool rankings.

Chicago's still got more 1st round picks in the cupboard than any other team (5x in 3 years) and more 2nds than any team except Arizona (8x vs Arizona's 10x in the same 3 year period)… and are about to pick high for 2 more years minimum… so I'd say they're probably sticking around after Bedard graduates.
Not to mention a ton of cap space that they're actually willing to weaponize, unlike some other teams.
14 NHL contracts come off the books after this year.
Only one single long-term contract in Seth Jones at 7 years. Connor Murphy is the next closest at 3 years and he's probably gonna be moved at some point with retention for picks.
3 quality goalie prospects in Söderblom, Commesso, and Gajan.
The only position lacking in the prospect pool is right-handed defencemen (the position that's locked in for 7 years with Seth Jones), and that will be fixed after this next draft.
Oh, and a competent GM and a coach that seems like he's part of the future.
League's not ready.
Also it's funny to point out that Chicago literally made Columbus the 1st place team in this ranking by trading for Jones
Is Bedard a Center though?
While I know the rules for these rankings are 10 games an over aren’t prospects I would argue players need to play say 30-40 games in the nhl in any given season to really not be a prospect anymore. Having said that my top 10 for my hawks would go as follows.
Bedard
Korchinski
Moore
Reichel
Nazar
Vlasic
Commesso
Del Mastro
Greene
Allen
This is the type of podcast I love and enjoy listening to . The both of you are great .
Suggestion .
Dig deeper into prospects profile and projection.
And the prospects progress.
And how far they are to making the NHL .
Which prospect pool is deeper? Which one has the most prospects that can play NHL games? Chicago legitimately has at least 20 prospects that will very likely play in the NHL.
Fantilli will be better than Bedard
