If you look back at photographs of hockey prior to 1979, you will find that most Hockey players in that era were helmetless. The imagery of flowing hair and rugged tough guys were the highlight of the time. But all that changed when Bill Masterton lost his life, after landing head first without a helmet.

I did a research project on bill this year in school. Pretty interesting story knowing that bills coach threatened to cut the players if they wore helmets 😢.
