The Detroit Red Wings are proud owners of the 6th overall pick in the 2021 NHL Entry Draft. After much deliberation, we’ve decided that we’d be more than happy with winger, William Eklund.
Having earned his way into the SHL, he earned 23 points in 40 games played. With his efforts, he solidified being among the top U19 scorers in the SHL. He’s got a lengthy list of qualities beyond his scoring ability. Eklund is an excellent skater, has shown some very good two-way progression, and understands his body and limitations.
We’re excited for wherever Eklund ends up but wouldn’t mind if he was with the Red Wings!

Hopefully he falls to us there. Such an underrated prospect. I have him at #1 in this draft if they ever do a redraft in the future. Such a producer in a league that isn’t known for high scoring. Amazing player and has to most complete game IMO, right there with Beniers. He’ll be 5’11” 185lbs in no time, and him being able to play center and the wing is an asset the Wings need. My personal top 5 choices are:
1. Luke Hughes (But I doubt he's gonna still be available at 6th)
2. William Eklund
3. Simon Edvinsson
4. Jesper Wallstedt
5. Dylan Guenther
We could take Eklund or Edvinsson at 6th, and Sebastian Cossa or Alexei Kolosov at 22nd.
You young women know the game of hockey tactically better than Blashill .. Yzerman should wake up and hire you as coaches .. The question is which of you should become head coach?? ; )
Your videos are good and knowledgeable .. You are always very familiar with things .. As I wrote before, you know a lot more about hockey than many men / boys who make similar videos on YouTube.. It is downright wrong how little your videos are watched and it is only because many men have a negative attitude towards women's knowledge of hockey.. Continue with the same pattern and you will be noticed even better..
( an excellent pick would be Eklund .. He is an exceptionally intelligent player who also has speed and skill .. He will become an excellent player in the NHL even though his size is small .. He is able to compensate for his small size with the intelligence and skill level he has ..)
I'm hoping for one of Power (no way he is there at 6th), Hughes, Edvinsson or Clarke. If those guys are gone then i hope for one of Bernier, McTavish, Guenther or Eklund. Eklund is only 8 months younger than Raymond and will turn 19 in October…not exaclty on the younger side of this draft class.
For the Caps pick i really really hope they can get Svetchkov.

I'm def leaning towards Eklund as well. If he's not available, I think we should take a shot at Kent Johnson at 6th, then pick up Cossa with WSH's pick (trade up to get him if we have to). Alternatively, if Eklund's gone, I'd be thrilled with Wallstedt at 6th and Svechkov or Raty at 23. LGRW!
