Today we’re taking a look at a hypothetical trade scenario mentioned on the Last Word on Sports website, highlighting a crossing of paths between the Detroit Red Wings and Vegas Golden Knights. The potential trade would see defencemen Alec Martinez and Alex Biega getting swapped, along with a 2nd round pick in the 2021 NHL Entry Draft thrown in there too, to allow the Red Wings to relieve the Golden Knights of the cap struggles they have.

The Vegas Golden Knights got eliminated by the Dallas Stars in the Western Conference Finals in Game 5, and the New York Islanders were eliminated by the Tampa Bay Lightning in Game 6.
Of the Conference Semi-Final matchups, the Boston Bruins, Colorado Avalanche, Vancouver Canucks, and Philadelphia Flyers have been eliminated.
Teams eliminated from the first round of the 2020 NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs are the St. Louis Blues, Calgary Flames, Arizona Coyotes, Chicago Blackhawks, Columbus Blue Jackets, Montreal Canadiens, Carolina Hurricanes, and the Washington Capitals.

As a VGK fan I like Martinez, but if it meant keeping everyone one else we are in danger of losing because of being over the cap, I wouldn't be mad about it. He really didn't even play on the team that many games.

Definitely a fan of Detroit, I would like to Alec Martinez .. The guy handles the defense perfectly in front of his own goal..Detroit’s biggest problem was defending own goal..
Martinez once again showed in the playoffs that he handles the defense effectively.( 20 matches 2 + 6 = 8 points and +/- statistics handsomely PLUS 11)
Again, why? taking on 33 year old player and restricting your kids from getting playing time.
A $4 million dollar AAV is pretty revolting also.
