He's english might suck. However he manages to comunicate well and he got a great personality, rangers did a good choise by signing him!!! regardless!!!! Im sure he will sound like an american, just give him a couple of years!!!!
His english sucks??? He's european and never lived in North-America, think a little about all europeans that can't speak english. hopefully Scandinavian learn it as kids and english movies are just subtitled. I'm French, don't ask a french to speak that good english at first arriving, or a russian and all others eatern guys.
To get this straight (all americans), he is NORWEGIAN.. and every norwegian can speak swedish because all the scandinavian languages are "in family" kind off. We speak diffrent languages but we understand eachother when we're talking our languages to eachother. F. ex Zuccarello are talking Norwegian too Lundqvist, and Lundqvist answers on swedish. Ofcourse you could mix up the languages, like mats does. Every Norwegian can speak swedish. It's not difficault at all.
A great talent! But yeah, he might need to brush up on his english if he is to live in New York and play for an english speaking team. To say that his english sucks is a bit harsh tough. He just has the heavy scandinavian accent of someone who doesn't really care if they don't sound like a brit or a yank.
He speaks/write Norwegian same as me 🙂 and is from the same City
Then I would say that Danish is the closest you can get to Norwegian. Danish and Norwegian is almost the same in writing but the way the Danish speaks make it a bit harder to listen to than Swedish.
Norwegians are for the most good at understanding English no it's not perfect but it is not he's native language. If you want to have some relay bad English look up Petter Solberg 🙂 it's just painful hahaha
So I would put it in this order for most Norwegians.
But there are a lot Norwegians married to Swedish and Danish so Sweden, Denmark and Norway are very close in culture, language and we have a lot of special agreements for Scandinavians like medical care if we visit each other country and so on.
@ebbablah Well ebbablah, I`m ashamed of people like you,who think they are so much better than others. You act like a nordthug kind off attitude. His english is very understandable, thats good enough for me. The importent thing is his skills on the ice.
Mats felt that the Rangers were being serious about their offer., Simple as that. We (as Norwegians) are glad to have Mats in Rangers, and i guess they're pretty happy to

I don't know what you guys are talking about. I've seen a few interviews on MSG. His English is pretty good. It seems he's carved out a roster spot.

hoppas att denna ödmjuka snubbe en gång blir norges nationalhjälte istället för tölpen northug!!
