Nobody is rushing to sign in Vancouver. The franchise is a mess, on and off the ice. They just gave Miller, a guy with a reputation around the league, a huge contract at 30 years old. Only Calgary has done anything that stupid (Huberdeau). The Canucks are desperate for those 2 home playoff games. Cup be damned.
I agree with your comment about Petey being greedy. Definitely makes we wonder about his maturity. Yes, he is an excellent player but he isn’t at a point where he should get anything close to Mathews!

He'll get 11 or 11.5 next summer. If he wants more trade him now.
The more money he gets the less is available to sign complimentary players. Think Toronto's big four.
The cap should be going up significantly in the next couple years though, which will offset a raise for Pettersson.
They should pay Petey whatever he wants, he’s our franchise player. This team goes nowhere without him.
Hate to lose Petey, but the comments in his interview with Friedman are somewhat concerning. I wish he would have at least made some reference that his intentions are to try and work out something with the Canucks. The lack of any eagerness to strike a deal has me worried.
This is always tough as a fan, the business side versus the team needs. I get why he is playing the waiting game from a business sense but so much is on the line with this for the team and their playoff potential.

Now that Matthews just signed, every day from now on that Petterson does not sign worries me more and more. But i sure hope im wrong and he ultimately will sign with us. 🤞🤞
Petersson won't get over 10 mil. Not happening after his poor production to begin the last two seasons. He did not set a bar / tone / lead early. Very talented player, but not worth that much due to injuries and performance.
Hey trev the Canucks need to focus on becoming a team that can hang with any team In the league. As well as giving Petey a solid contract offer in order for him to sign a long term extention.

if they don't make the playoffs this year he may walk. he's only got about 10 more chances to win a cup and after that it's time to call it a career.
I honestly won’t be surprised if petey doesn’t resign… the guy wants to win the cup and he has already given the nux 6 yrs and the team has only gotten worse… this is his payday contract so I think it will be in the 12’s x 8 yrs and that’s his 8 more chances to win a cup and it looks like the nux aren’t moving forward at all… suter down grade over horvat… Cole n soucy over bear n oel not enough of a difference to make nux playoff contenders… I agree if petey goes trade hughes to and start the rebuild… both will catch huge packages…
