  1. If they even got average goaltending, they would have easily made the playoffs.

  2. I like Calgary's group of players. They have a very solid mix. I think if they can establish a fast and aggressive forecheck, they could be a dangerous team.

  3. As a flames fan we need to play with more grit. When tkachuk gudbransen kylington were in Calgary we were a team that would out work a lot of others that what this group needs to do

  4. Wolf absolutely deserves to be with the big club. He’s got nothing to prove in the minors anymore. Run 3 goalies if you have to

  5. The 17 OT/SO losses stick out as well given Calgary finished ahead of several teams that missed the playoffs, despite only winning 38 games. There were quite a few teams in the East that were behind Calgary's 93 points, but had more wins, like Florida, Pittsburgh, Buffalo, and Ottawa. Nashville also had more wins than Calgary.

  6. Their success depends on whether or not they're too stupid to not play Wolf.

  7. Now that you've finally done the flames season preview I expect Hanifin and Lindholm to be traded within the next week 🙂

  8. Not a Flames fan, but this team should be MUCH better than they were. I think it's mostly on Huberdeau and Markstrom. If they don't bounce back, Calgary is in trouble.

  9. If ever there was a team that shouldn't have panicked, it's these Flames. It would be interesting to see what happens if they have normal luck. Two seasons ago, they had virtually no injuries and reaped the benefits. Last season, 7-17 in OT/SO, 18-30 in one-goal games. Yes, Sutter probably should have been fired, but there is no great need to have a massive overhaul of the on-ice roster..

  10. The team clearly quit on Sutter, he had no faith in Markstrom and I feel like he floundered because of it. I think he’ll bounce back

  11. As a fan of another Western Conference team, I think this Calgary team is too good to not make the playoffs. Changing the coach will work wonders IMO. I think the real wild card here is what happens at the trade deadline – if key guys remain unsigned beyond this season, do they sell at the deadline to recoup assets or do they go all-in and risk letting guys walk away like Gaudreau in the summer?

  12. If they are going to do ANYTHING
It will have to be a TEAM BOUNCE BACK A TEAM EFFORT PLAYING FOR THE GUY NEXT TO YOU!

  13. It's an absolute joke Calgary missed the playoffs last year with that roster, whether you blame it on a stale core or Daryl Sutter I don't care. I don't see how they fall out of the mix for a playoff spot necessarily unless Hanifin and Lindholm get traded for futures.

  14. Calgary is a team that should have been dominant over the last few seasons, with their best players coming of age, and keep retooling in the hope that it actually happens. Some of the best players have left town. Now they're at the "Look. We fired the coach. Now do something." stage of this team's evolution. Markstrom went from finally being able to post shutouts after leaving behind the horrid defence of the Canucks, to becoming a basket case during his playoff series vs the Oilers and probably drunk dialing his former goalie coach in Vancouver. If Markstrom doesn't return to form this team is in serious trouble. The Flames could finish anywhere between 3rd in the division to completely falling apart and competing for the 1st overall pick in the entry draft. It is a fragile time in Calgary.
