  1. That’s not a jab at Nylander 😂😂. It’s the truth and reality. Omg Trelivings comment is a nothing burger jeez.

  2. Here's what I don't understand from the people who want to keep Nylander over Brodie or Rielly…

    #1. Brodie/Rielly are the Leafs best D-men and yet you want to get rid of them?

    #2. Nylander's contract (although a great value) only has 1yr left…then he wants a TOP 10-NHL contract (?!!).

    #3. The Leafs need a PLAYMAKER on the 2nd line (or a power-forward with size)…what we DON'T need is another 20-30 goal scorer who is reliant on having a playmaker… Has nobody noticed that BOTH Matthews & Tavares only have career years when they're paired with our best playmaker?! When will the Leafs realize you don't get goals unless you have decent playmakers?

    #4. The return on Nylander would be GOOD right now – I'm sure we could get 1 of the following:
    i. A high first rounder;
    ii. A good defensive prospect;
    iii. A playmaker (with speed) or
    iv. A decent 1(b) goalie)…
    How are ANY of these not something we need both in the future AND right now…or should we wait until Samsonov, Rielly, and/or Marner get injured to force us into a much worse trade when we don't have anyone to replace them?

  3. Not good at ESPN, that's a substantial drop in revenue and the NHL should be concerned–thanks for another excellent report

  4. Way to go Mike….great report.
    Re: D'Agostino….if it was Alex Ovechkin or Sidney Crosby etc you'd never see this happen. They wouldn't give in to the public pressure BUT because it's a low end journeyman they basically ruin this guys livelihood. He had a contract and I'm sure he had some obligation to fulfill his contract. I wish people would stop making players pawns in these political chess games.
    Re: Nylander….. he's unrealistic if he thinks he can sit back and wait a year. The Leafs don't have that luxury. If they can't sign him now they've got to unload this guy. They could get a good return if they trade him. Dump the chump!!! He's obviously not a team 1st guy. It's all about him. He's like that NBA player years ago who was arguing over a few hundred thousand $$$ on a contract worth a hundred million $$$ or so. He made some comment about having "to put bread on the table" so he was holding out. That's Nylander's mentality. He's valuable BUT not at the salary being thrown around. He deserves to get a decent salary but if he holds out for more… Dump the chump!!!

  5. Either way you slice it, Nylander has got to go. Whether it be a one season "rental", or a trade (that they will lose), the Buds can't afford 4 players taking up 45 million of their cap. The die was cast when the signed Tavares. A trade with Anaheim makes sense though. They have at least FIVE stud defence prospects under 21.

  6. Ducks would be foolish to make that deal. Swap Brodie with Nylander then yes.

  7. If you'd want any player on ducks its Mintyukov,Zellweger,Hinds,Gaucher,Perreault,luneau,or BenKing.
    Maybe a Lundestrom,Grant or UFA Comtois

  8. The Maple leafs don’t even have the cap spaced to sign him even if they wanted to this year, and how many moves they would have to make in order to take on a 10,000,000+ contract. I don’t think the ducks would do a deal like this either because the Ducks only have 19 million in cap space and they still need to sign Zegras and Drysdale

  9. I'd ship both Nylander and Brodie out. Love them both but brodie is declining and Nylander wants to much. So save 5mill on Brody bring up a young Dman from the Marlies. Trade them both for high draft pics. Put Robertson on the 3rd line

  10. ESPN seems to be targeting a broader sports audience versus an audience of US ice hockey fans. The broadcasts I enjoy the most are those that focus on the details of the game, the depth of the teams, and all aspects of the game in progress. It feels like the ESPN coverage is too centered on star scorers, star goaltenders, and the "flash" of the teams which styles the broadcasts in contrast to the nuances of the game and the team play that makes NHL hockey the world's greatest team sport. The targeted audience isn't where the loyal watchers are, and when the games are on ESPN I try to listen to radio or alternative network broadcasts for the play-by-play.

  11. Whats hilarious about the Leafs is that eventually they keep signing $10 million dollar contracts they will have to have a fire sale similar to the Hawks….After they won a cup.

  12. Just trade Nylander and get something significant in return. They need to change this core 4 imo.

  13. The TS guy gets mad at me when I correct him but I'm going to do it anyway. The NHL deal with ESPN is actually ESPN +. Notice the +. So he's talking about the ESPN network subscriptions going down. ESPN+ is where the NHL games are on. You have to buy a subscription to ESPN+ to get the NHL . Not ESPN which he referenced. ESPN+ is about 25 million subscribers and it's still that.

  14. You cant pay me enough to watch espn+. Its absolutely horrid. Espn itself is barely bearable. I prefer the other stations and my kraken on our local channel is by far superior.

  15. The fact that Disney is currently a raging dumpster fire that is hemorrhaging cash should not be seen as the reason that the Bristol Clown Network is losing subscribers. The NHL is a more convenient scapegoat. 😊
