Hard to read into his stats line for 2012/13. With 78 points he matches his 11/12 production, but the word is that his team was terrible (only 14 wins). Slightly concerning. That, and the fact that he was not picked for Team Canada. Warning bells?
I think you're reading into his stats too much. The fact that he was able to get the same number of points in less games, without his linemates or teammates from last years powerhouse team, such as Shane Prince, Tyler Toffoli, and even Tyler Graovic, and Cody Ceci were traded this year. He had little to no help. Playing with 95's/96's, while serving a suspension, and playing hurt, is very impressive. He's still up in my top 3.

He's not top 3. Mack, Drouin, Barkov , all ahead of him. By a mile. But Monahan is good, yes. Top 5 is for sure.
Right now no he's not, but it would not surprise me if he passes Barkov and Drouin in the future.
