And we haven’t seen what Tre will do at the deadline.

Worse, but the chart is disingenuous. Yes, we lost more talent in FA than we gained, but a lot of that talent was picked up at the deadline. Barring a catastrophe, we’ll pick up talent at the deadline again this year.

Tbh the only players I will miss Ryan ORielly and Michael Bunting. But one came 80% through the season

Completely missed this Gambrell signing. Iv never heard of him.

People be hating Justin Holl so much he doesn’t even make the graphic. Lol
Nameless908
Should re-do this with our starting line up from last year and without our deadline acquisitions
Worldsportstalk
Better. Not than the team that ended last season, but far better than the team that started it. A better comparison will be this year’s team post deadline to last year’s post deadline team. I do wish we could’ve kept Acciari though

I say all I care about is the playoffs and it’s not as if last year’s team set the world on fire by getting 2 more wins than the year prior.
The biggest factor of this season will be whether or not Matthews returns to 60G form. We need him to be that in the regular and post season.
So, it’s hard for me to really sit here and say the team is worse than last year.
What if Mo and Klingberg catch fire and we have two 60P d-men? What if Domi plays out of his mind and has an incredible year feeding off the Fandom. And then ROR and Schenn go to Nashville and show they’re over the hill. Bunting struggles continue without one of the top passers and goal scorers in the NHL on his line etc.
Yes, these can all go the other way as well, but that’s my point. You can certainly suggest they’re worse, but it’s by absolutely no means some written in stone guarantee. If things break their way, this version could easily be better than had they kept Bunting, Schenn, ROR.
Also, it’s somewhat unfair to compare until after the deadline. That’s the real question. After the trade deadline next season, do we feel better about the team?

It’s pretty much just Bunting, Kerfoot, and Holl out. I’m going to miss Bunts but Bertuzzi, Domi, and Klingberg are just a better trio
JD_RainMan
Adding Knies to that list makes it a lot more appealing. Kid looked like the real deal in a small sample.

Was hoping they’d retain Acciari, though not at the price he got. Definitely not as good and I’m concerned about the Klingberg add most of all, but as others have said, they’ll likely add at the deadline. Have to figure Leafs are top team in division w losses in BOS and the TB core just that much older, though FLA may have something to say about it

When did we get Gambrell. Also, who is Gambrell
JRocleafs
We are so much better than our team at any point last year. I don’t know how someone could think otherwise.
RecalcitrantHuman
Added Benoit yesterday also. I would say the ins and outs are about a wash. All fringe players with a couple of exceptions and I think we are marginally stronger in those exceptions (Max and Tyler)

So of the notable players:
Our pre-deadline losses: Bunting, Kerfoot, Holl
Pre-deadline adds for this year: Bertuzzi, Domi, Klingberg
We pretty clearly got better here.
At forward, we also add top 10 ranked prospect Matt Knies as a permanent player, and Nick Robertson has potential to surprise, while Tavares could regress more, and no more Engvall, hard to say we didn’t improve here though, our LW depth is great now and we have a legit 1st line LW
On D, a full year of McCabe, an extra year of development for Liljegren, but no more Sandin and potential regression from Brodie, but I think overall we’re still better on D
In goal, we’ll see if Samsonov can follow up with another season at around the 10th best tender in the league, and Joe Woll is a very promising addition to fight for starts
I can’t think of any reason this Leafs team won’t be fighting for the Atlantic title in the regular season. Our chances in the playoffs will continue to be more luck-based, and forming an opinion without seeing our or our opponents’ deadline adds is very difficult

I’m just happy our GM got guys for the whole year instead of spending all the draft capital at the deadline and hoping they mesh. A full season of a team being a team will hopefully make the difference. Plus Bert was a beast last playoffs.

Erik Kallgren will be a huge loss. Who else will allow Radko Gudas slap shots from Centre ice to go in now?
BlessedCleanApe
Justin Holl doesn’t even make the list lmao

Only one on out I would take back is Schenn.
TrelivingTheDream
Tre ain’t finished 😏
One more big piece heading out at least

Missed Simon Benoit as an addition. I know it’s a minor move but he’ll play some games.
Razorwing23
I miss Schenn.
Silent-Obligation-49
Keeping Accari and Schenn would have been nice.

Bunting 🥺
Pristine_Office_2773
I think it is better to get talent in the off season than at dead line. Dead line pickups have rarely worked out for the leafs, usually the pick up gets hurt…
Losing Accari and Schenn hurts. Should’ve worked harder to bring them both back.

Better overall so far.
