  1. Bowness should've publicly called them out before the season was over. They might've played with a chip on their shoulder afterwards. Now they're just left to stew in misery

  2. Bowness is a great coach and his comments were valid. The Jets looked horrible in game 5 and the perceived culture issues with the Jets are not new. Things were so bad at one point their old coach Maurice literally quit. Bowness was the only reason they made the playoffs to begin with after missing last year. They definitely need a shakeup.

  3. Yesterday’s record: 3-1
2023 Stanley Cup Playoffs record: 21-23

    My picks for today:

    – Maple Leafs
    – Rangers
    – Oilers

  4. Take 11Alive's March 8 article re: John Buccigross and Alpharetta Mayor Jim Gilvin's comments. Subtract the current UFA situation and the post-playoff drama. Back to Atlanta, Jets may go. Hope I'm wrong; that town has had two chances already. Merch is merch, though.

  5. Rick Bowness had a right to be frustrated with the way the series went. However, I don't think he should have thrown the team under the bus in public like that. I think it will be tough for him to return next season to coach the Jets not that he really needs the money anyway. The Jets have been in need of changes for at least the last couple of years if not longer and I suspect the changes will finally come. Could Kevin Cheveldayoff be on his way out or does he have a card or two up his sleeve in order to put the Jets back on the runway?

  6. As a Stars fan this does not surprise me…I like Bones as a man but I think as a HC hmmm

  7. How many "closed doors meetings" did the Jets have under Maurice? They didn't really amount to much, did they?

Wheeler is just such a locker room cancer at this point, he needs to go

  8. Any thoughts on Eberle's boarding not even getting a hearing? Intentional, illegal dangerous hits should be suspendable whether the player returns to the ice or not.

  9. A professional wouldn't need to be told the things Bowness said. I only hope my team doesn't pick up Wheeler.

  10. I appreciate Bowness, the only way to make change is exposing what is being kept a "secret" in that locker room. Its been 5 years of mediocrity.

  11. Wheeler, Sheif and PLD all gone. All those players have heard that from Coach Bones before. Oh and never mind the booing in the stands, I am sure the fans were mistaken for those great efforts.

  12. Wheeler's counter-comment seems to suggest that he is part of the problem as he isn't listening, particularly given how Bowman was just repeating the same damn thing he said months before….😞😫

  13. Lowry is the real captain
Wheeler needs to go as many other due as well

MOST OF ALL CHEVY GOTTA GO
    BRING IN BUFF
he will relax and supercharge a NEW effort

Get rid of all the players who would rather avoid snow and taxes ( CANADIAN DRAUGHT ONLY )

  14. So Wheeler figured out it was about him… Is he even tradable at this point? Who'd want him in their locker room?

  15. Wheeler is not worth 3 million let alone 8.25..he cost the Jets laine n it feels like he’s the cancer in this dressing room..this team can’t change the culture till he’s gone..sooner the better

  16. Cogliano played with a broken neck last night after that hit. Because he played with a broken neck the dude doesn't get suspended. Cogliano is unhuman. The suspensions in the NHL is so confusing.

  17. Wheeler obviously wasn't listening for months… about the time they started loosing their grip on 1st place. I'm fairly certain Bowness was say those things then.

  18. Bowness is a problem too, did the same thing in Dallas. I guess making it to a finals appearance gets you a lot of credibility…

  19. The changes with the jets NEEDS to start with the general manager. Its his team, he put them together. Its his players that are soft. Start there, then move the soft players. Wheelers superiority complex drove patrick laine to want to be elsewhere. It was pretty obvious the player had no drive to play and win. Its the same big-time choke as last year.

  20. I have ZERO problem with what Bowness did. In fact i think coaches and players should be more authentic when they address the media. It is just that hockey gets so precious about these unwritten rules of decorum and everyone clutches their pearls whenever someone simply says what's on their mind.

  21. I think I agree with the majority of what I've heard from Jets fans, and that is that it was refreshing to hear Bowness say what he said. It resonated with how most of us felt this season, and this series vs Vegas. Neither Sheifele nor Wheeler have historically had great perspective on their own shortcomings, or accepting criticism graciously. there's usually ego and defensiveness, when all we really wanted was a solid effort. Most fans are fine with losing, if it's solid effort but just not a good enough team. But what we see is a great team that CAN dominate any team in the league on a good day. and play like absolute horse-sh** the next. the Absolute bare-minimum that I'd like to see is some G*-D** accountability from our former captain. Not criticism from him about the coach.

  22. I’m with majority on this. The players underperform under pressure and are “shocked and hurt” when it gets thrown in their face. Rick Bowness has been coaching for almost 40 years. He is telling it like it is.

  23. Throw a rock into a pack of animals, the one that yelps is the one that got hit. Wheeler seems to be yelping. (Old saying. Dont be throwing rocks. 😂)

  24. Wheeler should be mostly unhappy with Wheeler. They have a corps of highly skilled forwards who failed to show up for an elimination game until the game was almost over and it was too late. They have an outstanding goalie they throw to the wolves on a nightly basis, who still somehow keeps them in games they have no business being in. Hellebuyck has wasted his greatness behind a roster that doesn't seem to want it as much as he does.

  25. Wow good call on Yamamoto! Not only a goal, but the series winning goal. I’m so excited!

  26. Wheeler is just being the same whining, crying, non-competitive entitled prick he’s always been. He comments on things outside of hockey he knows nothing about after growing up in a gated community with a silverware set in his mouth.

He’s not concerned with hockey anymore. He’s said as much. He’s going to get into activism and politics as soon as he’s done playing. If you can call what he does now “playing”

  27. Winnipeg never making a Stanley Cup final with either team … One coming out of the WHA … One coming from Atlanta … I think that just shows … They need some GRIT! Wayne Gretzky's story about losing the cup finals in 1983 … And walking pass the Islanders locker room after series last game … Players with ice bags on them … trainers attending to certain players! How far is Winnipeg from making that kind of commitment?

  28. It's easy to condemn professional athletes as overpaid whiners but I really think there are rare cases when the players are right and the coach is/was wrong and this is one of those times. I think Martin St.Louis' impact on the Montreal Canadiens proves that sometimes a positive attitude can overcome lots of technical deficiencies. In fact, I personally believe that if Winnipeg had St. Louis as coach, they would have made it to the finals. Winnipeg has some really good pieces but they lack the depth and clearly the coach was asking too much of the core guys and they eventually just tuned him out.

  29. i like bones as a coach but we should have brought in tortellera for two years (tthhough pld would have flipped out lol)
go jetz, go oilers!! boo leafs
