Islanders Score After Brayden Point Receives Questionable Goaltender Interference Penalty
New York Islanders forward Brock Nelson scores on the powerplay after Brayden Point is called for a questionable goaltender interference penalty. Semyon Varlamov was shaken up on the play and was replaced by Ilya Sorokin.
Besides this event this is some of the worst refereeing I've ever seen missing major infractions and calling stupid little ones for referees and cannot spot seven players on the ice I'd be complaining if I was New York
Bad calls like this will continue to happen as long as there is no accountability for the refs and Bettman punishes coaches/players for calling them out.
The call for goalie interference stands because the oncoming player, Brayden Point made no effort to slow down, stop or veer off his direct path to the goaltender while Brayden Point had his head down the whole time (hello do we hear a bell ring)going full steam. The collision was going to happen with or without a shove from the Islanders defenseman. Any questions ?
And what excuse does an official present for this ineptitude???…They all defend one another, but at some point it simply becomes fraudulent to do so…What if the dude breaks his neck??…And a cross-check???…That just accentuates ineptitude..
Another idiotic call from the refs… It's getting worse each and every game. No logic, no control from the league. Why do they put so much money in video review and stuff if they can't use it properly.
Can the league have a system where enough mistakes by a referee will get them fired, every other job has them, Points head hits the crossbar, did he want that to happen… stupidity smh 🤦🏻♀️ also with replays they’re should be people who can supersede calls on the ice to make penalties a major or nothing at all cause what is this bullshit, why even have cameras 🎥
I think the players coming into the defense of the goalie is to fake caring. They know their own player pushed the player into the goalie. They are doing it to pretend they actually care about their goalie when they caused the collission.
The joke of this call is that the ref at the other end of the ice made the call, not the ref in the offensive zone. That ref should be canned. And even when they're so wrong, they will NEVER admit it. (#9 Dan O'Rourke)
Questionable? If he’s doing a though-the-legs, he’s not going to run into Varlomov, and it could of been a highlight Reel goal for Point, yet the isles get a goal. I’m not even a lightning fan.

Terrible call Terrible teammate can't believe that why does this always happen to Varlamov always getting hit
These "top-level" referees are bordering on being morons. Wait, they are morons.
Meh. F**k em.
Refs just keep making awful calls game after game after game

I always wondered why players do that .why would you intentionally push someone towards your own goalie ?
I don’t want the lighting to win but this was a horrendous call
Yes he got pushed but he didn’t even try to stop lol
typical NHL referees
One of the worst call I've seen in a while… Smh
Lets be honest the Refs were stupid last night
point could've avoided it
I see the bolts are getting the same treatment the Bruins got.
Referee this year always find a new way to surprise me how bad they are
⚡️ Go Bolts ⚡️

What did I just whiteness
I’m blind I’m deaf I was born to be a ref.
If u don’t think that’s a penalty, ur kind of just a moron

Worst call ever
Did he cross-check or was he pushed? How could there be any doubt NHL
terrible call ref! not even a fan of either team in this series, but damn
How many times does it take now for the refs to actually make a decent call for the lightning

Isles fan. Bad call. They made up for it by allowing tampa to score with seven players on the ice ❄
Are there any consequences for refs when they make terrible calls?
If I made a mistake that big at my job, I'd be fired.
Pride..
Me in NHL 21
This is a dang it though because ryan mcdonagh thought he was playing for the Islanders.
I heard about it on Reddit… can't believe how bad that penalty was… like… shouldn't the refere watch replays when a player is injure at least?
That’s gonna be in Dangit’s next week.

Tough to call… he might have had room to stop there. If I'm the ref, I don't think I would call it, but I can see why they might.
Why should it be questioned it was other in or out simple
He didnt even try to avoid varly ! Loved it . I guess 6 skaters is ok ! Go Islanders !
That penalty is "questionable" only if you are a complete Islanders fanboy. Any actual hockey fan knows it's utter and complete bullshit.
But the NHL desperately wants a team from New York in the finals, so …..
Funny thing – in Game 3, Pelech commits another moronic foul and loses the game for the Islanders. Such a sad, talentless little boy.
Tb always go's after goalies in the playoffs
Not a fan of either team, but that call shows how incompentant NHL referring is. Calls like that cheapens the NHL. Total Bush League

Not as high profile as the MTL-VGK examples, but still bad reffing
Everyone putting the hate on Chris Lee but Dan O’Rourke too was god damn awful these playoffs.
In the end Point had last laugh. He lit up the Islanders in every game but game 7 and won the series
