Sad to see him go and career cut short, big part of those back to back Cups.

Oh Carl, I’ll always remember your tenacity and speed and that HBK line, thank you for playing a part in my childhood.

Love Hags forever. Does make you wonder if he wore the visor the way it’s intended to be worn instead of flipped back on top of his head if the injury wouldn’t have happened.

Great career. Thanks for the memories. HBK and the dagger to Nashville. Hope this injury doesn’t affect his next chapter.

Great career and really boosted Malkin’s line.

Personality wise a real popular guy which is why many were pissed he was traded (Crosby, Malkin & Horny were particularly annoyed).

*Hagelin has won the Stanley Cup as a member of the Pittsburgh Penguins in 2016 and 2017. He also played the most playoff games of any NHL player in the 2010s decade, with 128*

I always really loved Hags, even before and after being on the Pens. I am so bummed for him that this is the way it ends!

Man what a bummer. He was electric, nobody deserves to be derailed by injuries period, but especially not the way HE got it.

A high stick in offseason practice, that’s just brutal. Especially with how he fought with that hip off and on for 4 years, he got through all that and THIS is what gets him.

Some guys have all the luck, wishing him the absolute best in retirement, and more importantly, a good recovery for a good man and a good player. Penguin forever.

Thanks Carl for the back to back Cups

Loved Swags. My fav penguin. I’ll always remember him grinding out PKs, blocking shots, the flow, the visor, and that speed to [score the sealing goal](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BPgGvwcCCTY) for the Stanley Cup. I was so sad when we traded him. Thanks for everything, Hags. Atta boy, Haggy

Hags. What a player, what a Penguin. Enjoy retirement, buddy, and thank you for the lifetime of memories you helped provide.

Damn it always sucks when a player doesn’t get to end their career on their own terms. Always loved him as a player. Speedy recovery Hags

Totally bummed to hear this. HBK forever!

He was incredible for them during their runs. Great player. Good luck Hags

Thanks Hags, I’ll never forget the way you left Subban in the dust to put game 6 out of reach.

Hags played an incredible amount of playoff hockey and was a big part of different team’s runs in the Playoffs. His speed and energy was so fun to watch!

2012: Easter Conference Finals with the Rangers.

2013: Easter Conference Semi-Finals with the Rangers.

2014: Stanley Cup Finals appearance against the Kings (with the Rangers), Penguins had a tough series against the Rangers who won 4-3.

2015: Hagelin (Rangers) win the Presidents Trophy. Once again meet the Penguins in the playoffs and win 4-1 [with this heartbreaking goal as a Pens fan.](https://youtu.be/Q8Y7hLhzbtw?feature=shared)
Rangers lose in the Conference Finals

2016: Started the season in Anaheim and was traded to the Penguins mid-season. Penguins dispatch the Hagelin-less Rangers 4-1 in R1. [Look familiar?](https://youtu.be/GmzOAMFBiZA?feature=shared) They proceed to run through the Caps 4-2 with Hagelin having a 1g,2a night in the series clinching game. Then beat the Lightning 4-3 and finally win the Cup against the Sharks 4-2

2017: Again in the playoffs with a great Penguins team. (I believe Hags was hurt for the beginning of these playoffs.) They beat Columbus 4-1, Washington 4-3, Ottawa 4-3, and AGAIN win the Cup against Nashville 4-2. [Hags shuts up the crowd.](https://youtu.be/BPgGvwcCCTY?feature=shared)

2018: Still with the Penguins but the Pens lose to the eventual Stanley Cup winners (Caps) in the second round.

2019: Hagelin moves to the Capitals and they have a first round exit in the playoffs.

2020: Capitals. First round loss to Islanders.

2021: Capitals. First round loss to Boston.

    Salute to you Carl.

Gonna be telling my kids about the excitement HBK brought me in 2017. Thank you for everything Hags

I bet he’s now regretting wearing his visor the way he did.

HBK for a life. Hagelin was an integral part to those back to back cups.
