Shane Wright Is An Ideal Fit For Canadiens With First Overall Pick
The Hockey Central panel discuss the Montreal Canadiens winning the first overall pick in the 2022 NHL Draft, the draft being held on the Canadiens’ home ice, and potential top pick Shane Wright’s fit in Montreal.
Montreal still hasn't replaced Guy Lafleur. So hopefully this draft will produce a more consistent goal scorer than Pacioretty ever was or even Richer (though he did score 50 twice with Montreal). Though I wouldn't be surprised if the Habs take a defensemen given the State of the Blue line with Weber likely gone and the trades of Chiarot and Kulak.
Kelly Hrudey was right , rebuilds are not 5 yrs anymore. The young talent the Habs have will be amazing in the next couple yrs !! Welcome to Montreal Mr. Wright 🙂
Habs should inquire if nyr would trade lafreniere and there 1st round pick for the 1st overall pick and the first round pick they got from Calgary or trade the 2023 1st round pick they got from fla for chariot
oh look it's Patrick Laine 2.0 bahahahahahahah “[Being No. 1 overall] is definitely really important to me. I think based on my work and my career, I deserve to be the first overall pick,” said Wright. "I deserve to have that honour. I believe that I am the best player in this draft and that I should be taken first overall.”
The "Do the right thing Montreal" comment is so out of place – Montreal defines the words "Doing it right – always". They are the classiest team in hockey and possibly sports. Crap comment!
I'd personally try to trade that first pick to the Blue Jackets in exchange of their two 1st round pick. I'd go for Kemell with that #6 pick, after trading Toffoli, the habs will need a #1 right winger and the guy knows how to score goals, a Caufield – Suzuki – Kemell line could become something big for the reconstruction. I'd probably pick Mintyukov or Pickering to support the defensive squad, Mintyukov would be the better candidate if the habs are planning on trading Petry. I'm not a fan of going for a top center since the habs already got Suzuki but going for a 1-2 punch could also work.
But again, I'm just a nobody on the internet and not an actual GM. lmao

kelly hrudey repeating the same thing lol
It reminds me of zoolander,

The downfall… Bedard will not be a habs for sure now

Who cares about the moment Elliot
Habs win cup next year. According to u guys
Keep him in juniors tank again and draft Bedard
bust lmao
Trade the pick
yep like what Kevin said do the right thing in the draft
He's a good prospect.
His ceiling is like a Nick Hischier level player.
But only if he learns how to play NHL defense.
Would the Habs be interested in trading their #1 pick to San Jose for Erik Karlsson? He’s had very low mileage.
and the Montreal Canadiens select Logan Cooley 😂
Can't wait to see The Habs BLOW IT
Montreal is already too small. I'd take Slafkovski.
There's still classy reporters working for Toronto media sweet!
Shane Wright isn't exactly " lighting the lamp " in the OHL playoffs.
He's a good kid and a good player and he doesn't deserve to be put in a dumpster fire organization like this.
Slafkovsky to the Devils!
Too bad the Habs made one of the worst drafting blunders by skipping on Brady Tkachuk. What a dream that coulda been.
Buffalo at 16 🤣🤣
Oh my! ".. Do the right thing Montreal". Yes, Do the right thing, Montreal! o/…
"Rebuilds don't take five years anymore."
Hey, Sabres.
Shayne Wright is lazy. Montreal can pick him if they want but their habit of lazy players being chosen with lottery picks is not a good omen.
Frankly, that kid Slakofsky who won MVP honors in the Olympics at the age of 17 should be #1.
PICK HIM MONTRÉAL

Olé, olé olé olé olé, olé, olé. Alllleeeeeezzzzzz!
Montreal would be better off picking the XBox or the Play Station. It's their only path to a Stanley Cup.
Watch them go completely off the board like they did with jesperi 😆
Looking forward to Shane Wright on the Habs, go Habs go.

Connor Bedard…🤴
Is so disapointing… thinking avout getting Wright for a 1st pick… thinking about what you would get next year…

overrated, i would rather have Jiricek
This will make the Habs turn around fast
Hahaha he’s doomed.
Everyone wants the next McDavid but we need the next Crosby first
