I think Ekholm will be a huge boon to the Oilers. I like this much better than Erik Karlsson and what would have to be traded to land him. I was hoping Oilers could also land Luke Schenn who's physical but Toronto got him first.
I would have preferred Bouchard instead of Barrie, I don't think Bouchard is the stud everyone thinks he is. and yes i know it was to due with caps space but still

Ekholm is gonna have to be hard on defense. Edmonton will have expectations for him to be nothing but excellence on defense or he will just be another Adam larsson.

Why this is a better year for Toronto to be all in is their top 6 players are peaking with the exception of Matthews but no one needs to worry about him scoring more goals and his overall play is better. and more mature .And let's not forget the goal tending it better over all as well
For Dubas it's now or never like Kyper said. Hes looking to save his job … this should have been done 5 yrs ago after first bad playoff run. Toronto now will have the necessary toughness they needed to make it past the first round. I believe they should make conference finals at the very least!

Who gets out of the east? What a dog fight, sneaking suspicion that the Bruins can't keep up that pace, but who knows. The Oil gave up alot but I think Ekholm might solve some major issues.

Here's my view .. The Leafs nearly beat TB in 6 games last playoff season. Once TB saw they were close to losing they starting cheating (go look back at video) The refs helped that out by calling 3 penalties in the 3rd. 2 were bullshit calls and the other I would argue Stamkos threw himself into Holl instead of the interference call. This year we have STACKED ourselves so just that alone we wil OWN the Bolts this year. Of course there is still time for the Bolts to add more. But they should be shaking … Jeanott is not enough
The Oliers-Preds trade is very good for Edmonton–Barrie is a good offensive player but a defensive liability, and the Oilers really needed another defensive-minded D-man.
What was that shot about the Oilers not making the move in time to compete with the B's? It was a 3-2 game lol, I'd say that's competing pretty well…
