Winnipeg should get younger filling in team like they are I don't agree with no real plan.
They should be focused on getting picks,guys under 25 who can grow with next core Barlow,Perfetti,Lucius,Mcgroarty ect
We need a young dman this is why Rangers rumor makes sense Scheider,Nemec,Svozil,Mataychuk,Clarke,Zellweger we lack that guy who could play with Morrissey or Samberg.
I think players like Kakko, and/or Lafrenier would be part of the deal.
On the bright side, the host isn't getting any worse !
I'm a Jets fan in Winnipeg. I like a lot about this deal, but I feel that as it's presented, it's slightly in favor of the Rangers.
Heinola needs a couple years playing consistent 3rd pairing minutes. From their, I believe he'll grow into a 2nd pairing guy. Plus, Scheifele is definitely significantly better than Chityl.
So because of that, I would think the Rangers would need to throw in a 2024 1st as well.
Trocheck isn't going to the wing over Scheifele when Trocheck is better on the draws

Trocheck ideally, would really work being the 3rd line center with Goodrow and Vesey on the wings, reason being, that line would be really good defensively and their really good forechecking all three bring to the Rangers.

this deal still leaves the rangers paying 1.7m more. they're 50k over the cap now. to solve this problem, let's be bold. add a top 10 protected 1st from winnipeg, and laf or kakko from the rangers. if we're already adding scheifele to the rangers' top 6, how are laf or kakko ever going to take those spots? that's part of the problem; they've never really been given a shot to play the roles they were drafted for, and thus the pedestrian numbers. they went 1st and 2nd, give them a chance to play in scoring roles ffs.
if the jets prefer, they can send lucius or lambert instead of the 1st.
Any team looking to make the playoffs should be adding Kessel into the bottom 6.
I would want to see Jets trade Scheifele and Hellebuyck to Sabers for Devon Levi/Matthew Savoie/Zach Benson
Zac Jones is a LD. Schneider is a RD. Pass as a NYR fan.
The NYR are right up against the cap so to make this work they would also have to trade Goodrow, so I don’t see how trading away Schneider and Goodrow on an already soft Ranger team and adding another 30 year old makes any sense .. pass.
Is there anyone in the league that would pay Guentzel 10 million a year? I can see 8.5, but his numbers are largely inflated by Sid. 10 is close to franchise player type money, and I don't think anyone would consider him of that caliber
Phil Kessel is still a viable NHL player and I fully expect someone to give him a one year deal at League minimum–the fact that he has stated that he doesn't care about the Ironman streak may be what gets him one more deal. Really sucks for Max Pacioretty with all the injuries–I hope he can come back and play effectively. Thanks for another excellent report.
