BENSENVILLE, IL. (October 20th, 2012) —It didn’t take long for the Muskegon Lumberjacks to prove why they are one of the top teams in the United States Hockey League Eastern Division. The Jacks flexed their muscle Saturday evening and skated past the Chicago Steel 4-0 at The Edge Ice Arena.
Muskegon scored with 59 seconds left in the first period on a goal by Chad McDonald. McDonalds’ goal sparked the Jacks as his squad put three more up early in the second to go up 4-0 at the 6:56 mark.
The Steel were unable to fight back after Muskegon’s second period scoring barrage. Alex Sakellaropoulos made 14 saves in the loss and was replaced by backup goalie Chris Nell with 33:44 left on the clock.
Chicago moves to 5-2-1 on the season, while Muskegon improves its record to 7-0-1.
The Steel will be back at home on Nov. 16 when the Green Bay Gamblers return to Edge for a 7:30 p.m. faceoff. Tickets for the Green Bay game can be purchased by calling the Steel Ticket Office at 630-594-1161 or by visiting tickets.chicagosteelhockeyteam.com.
