  1. Where do you live lol i can't belive you've never been to a nhl game that shit get your ass to on opening night on the season JUST VOMITABLE

  2. It kinda makes you a mockery TBH been doing hockey content on youtube for years and have a large following but never seen a game live correct this blasphemy sounds like a bad joke 😢😢

  3. Eat before you go to the game. Don't buy more than 2 beers for duration of game experience.Share your beer with your bro. Cheer mf'r cheer!

  4. Going to your first NHL game, just have fun with it. Most of my experience is at the Shark Tank where generally there isn't a bad seat in the entire arena (I've also seen NHL games in LA and Anaheim, WJC games in Edmonton, and AHL games at the Barracuda Arena (Tech CU)). A bit surprisingly, closest to the ice sometimes things will be tougher to see (if you're right behind the goalie, action at the other end of the ice you'll have 200 feet with the players "blocking your view" and if you're kind of in the corner near the glass the glass separating the bench/penalty box can cause a bit of distortion of the view on the other end of the ice). The closer to the action the faster the game seems to move but you get good viewing angles regardless of seat. If you're newer to the sport and have a harder time following the action it might make sense to watch from higher up so you can see more of the plays developing. I also don't know how much you've watched on TV, but if you're one of the newer people to the sport who finds it tough to follow the puck, you can always just look at where the players are looking since the majority of them will be looking at the puck.

You might want to make note of what side of the arena the home team attacks twice so you can sit on the side where the team you're cheering for will be attacking for most of the game (if they're the road team it's likely to be cheaper on the road team attacks twice side, too).

In most of my experiences the fans around me have been friendly. I've answered plenty of questions for people new to the sport and I've heard others doing the same. If you're confused about something (again, not sure how experienced you are in watching hockey) don't be afraid to ask a question.

If you're trying to decide which game to go to there are a number of things you can look at. Rivalry games can be a lot of fun, as can games where you just want to see a player live (I'm thinking of going when the Hawks come to SJ to see Bedard live). Maybe a player from your favorite team was traded/signed elsewhere in free agency so you want to see them back in town. If your team is bad (as implied, I'm a Sharks fan), you might want to watch a game against another team that's not great so it'll be a more competitive game. In that situation you might also consider buying tickets to a game late in the season so you can see some of your teams prospects getting called up (particularly after the trade deadline). You can also look at giveaways and go based on those.

Then again, my "not being sure how experienced you are in watching hockey" is probably answered by you participating enough to spot an AMA post on a hockey youtuber's channel.

Remember that anything you're going to want to buy at the game will be expensive. You'll be very lucky if you can get a beer for $10 USD, memorabilia will be pricy, etc. Either plan on spending a good amount of money or just eat before coming in.

  5. do you think tage thompson can put up 100 points this season and do you think buffalo will make a cup run

  6. The most valuable incarnation of Nylander is Nylander-needing-a-new-contract-Nylander. Hopefully they don't extend him at all unless its at a ridiculous discount which he wont do. As soon as he is sitting on a contract I predict his performance to drop under value. He is a money-motivated player $. He'll have a better season this year if he is working towards UFA.

  7. Yea I've been to about 200 Raptors games (including their first ever home playoff game way back in 2000) but only been to exactly one Leafs game.

They lost 2-1 to the Flames cause of big save Dave lmao. I remember having a cute interaction with a young Flames fan and her mom. She got on the big screen and I was putting thumbs down in front of her but then apologIized (that she picked the wrong team) and we all had a good laugh.

  8. Advice for first time NHL attendees:

Do not buy the arena beer. Most NHL arenas have a ton of bars surrounding it. Have your drinks there. NHL arena beer is ludicrously over priced. Save that 20 bucks for another part of your trip.

  9. So he'd trade Shesterkin or any other elite goalie? Silly imo. Yes if he gets injured you're hooped but the same could be said for injuries to any of your elite players. When you trade an elite, chances are you are not getting elite back so you're trading quality for quantity. No thanks. If you are blessed with an elite goalie you hold onto him

  10. Whenever I go to a live hockey game (NHL or otherwise) I like to be in the corners, just behind the goal line if possible. The tickets are cheaper, and I like having a really good view of one end rather than the more expensive center ice area seats, which don't have a very good view of either end. Sit in the end that your favorite team will be attacking for 2 periods! Make reservations and have a nice dinner before the game, you can get a nice meal and a couple beers at a restaurant for the price of a beer and hot dog at the game. The restaurant doesn't have to be near the arena if you don't want! Just make your travel plans accordingly. Also, keep in mind that you can't return to your seats during play so that you aren't blocking people's views, teams actually have someone at each entrance to the seats the keep people there, so try to choose your spots for going to the concession or bathroom carefully.

  11. Nuge got 53 powerplay points. He's going to be on that powerplay this year too – the Oilers only have one powerplay and it was the best in history. I can't see them swapping in Kane for Nuge. So, based on that, I think he's going to be getting at least 80 points this year.

  12. I think Seider's biggest strength is literally his size, strength, toughness, bodychecking, and durability. Many defensemen possess 50 point upside but almost none contain those characteristics I just mentioned. Wait until playoff time. That's when he will really shine. What a specimen.

  13. As someone who got very attached to the Oilers when I first moved out here, I was very bummed when the first 2 games I went to they got blanked on the score sheet.
This was year after the incredible playoff run with McDavid… 2017/2018 season.
They were bother early in the year, never thought they’d have games like that.
So hopefully you don’t experience the same fate with the Red Wings haha
It was actually the Red Wings who shut them out the first game I went. Made Petr Mrazek look way too good 😂

  14. Biggest thing I can say about an NHL game is that it’s not as cold as you’d think it is. You don’t need a winter coat to be comfortable in the arena

  15. I don’t see nylander making more than 4yr/8aav he is not great defensively and sometimes so inconsistent he is the worst player on the ice

  16. Are the Flames are playoff team this year? They’ve had a bit of a quiet off season but I feel like Hubby may step it up this year. Thoughts?

  17. I do somewhat even as an oilers fan agree with your nuge prediction but I still think he could push point per game this season

  18. Bro I went to a leaf’s and buffalo game in buffalo when brooks Leight however u spell his last name was rumoured to be the next captain for Toronto the year before matthews u support your team no matter what man lol just go have fun it’s the best experience

  19. It's not like the leafs have any choise: they are 13m over the cap, 3m over the cap with LTIR candidates, so… Given that, as well as the fact that Nylander was underpaid for most of his RFA years and now wants a 10m per contract (and giving that kind of money to one dimensional, average playoff performing winger wouldn't be smart), the "haul" for Nylander wouldn't be that large, either

  20. I grew up an hour outside of Halifax and was a huge mooseheads fan from day one. I moved to Edmonton many years ago and the year he was draft eligible I told all my friends to watch out for Jonathan Drouin, I told them that I compared him to Martin St. Louis

  21. Nhl game advice from someone's who's been to roughly 10… don't wear freakin shorts like I did. It's cold as HELL, especially the lower bowl😂

  22. Nylander is an awesome offensive talent…and a pretty mediocre defender…both have to do with his character. Hi likes the glory of the spotlight…and you don't find that in the grind of defending. He could be a great two way player but he's not. And his character is not about to change…neither will his or his manager's attitude toward signing a contract imho. So best to avoid the headaches of the last contract negotiations and avoid similar damage to the team created by that and trade him asap where he still has significant value.

  23. bro, you never been to an NHL game? alright, I live in Glace Bay, let's go to a Wings game, I've never been there before.

  24. Leafs Still don’t have a #1 D man, so trade Nylander. His last contract he got $10 Mill for the first yr and scored 7 goals.

  25. From personal experience, I sit nosebleeds most of the time, and those are a great view of all the action here at the American Airlines Center (Dallas). I did sit lower level when the Avs (favorite team) came to town, but they were very expensive and it was a blowout. 🤦🏻‍♂️ for your first game I’d say get there a little extra early (like 30 minutes) to watch warmups, have some food/beer and that way you’re not rushing around by the time the game starts. NHL games are tons of fun in person, so just take it all in and enjoy yourself.

  26. Nuge isnt getting paid 10 million dollars. Huberdeau is. 100 from nuge was sognificantly outperforming his contract. A fall off to 60 would still have good value for the investment.

  27. Ooh that take on Seatle might come to bite you, it's a super solid team that did not undergo massive changes at all but maxed out on continuity, a group that ain't aging much, whose best talents are just entering their peak years, and of the very few pieces they've added all were smart moves including Pierre-Edouard Bellemare (the one aging guy nearing retirement in this lineup) whose strength in lifting up spirits in the locker room is absolutely unmatched in this league.

  28. Could we make a top 25 paid players ranked based on performance/buck?

Also can't believe you're that young

  29. For your first NHL game get there early. Take in the warm-ups. Take in the atmosphere. Look around the arena. Just explore a little bit.

  30. for first NHL game if you are a wings fan I heavily recommend a home game against the leafs. I just attended my first live NHL games within this last year and the detroit vs toronto game in detroit this January was amazing. Something unbelievable about the back and forth chanting "Lets go Red Wings!" into "Go Leafs Go!"

  31. Seriously the yzerplan is a few years away from producing a playoffs team. He just stock piled in the draft this year as many players as he could. Now he has stopped the bleeding and here comes the idea that the yzerplan says that Detroit will be a playoffs team.
