  1. We can afford him – it’s just a matter of losing wasted money. 3 million a year on McGinn, terrible contract. 5.5 a year on Zucker, terrible contract. 4.1 or so on Pettersson, horrible. 4.5 or whatever it is for Matheson. Sure, he moves the buck but a liability on defense…. And he’s a defensemen. Marino for 4+ looked good after his rookie year but he’s been average at best. You can lose 2-3 of those guys easily and have more than enough to keep letang malkin rust then go get a couple of free agents. E-Rod, Boyle, Heinen – guys like that were great bargain signing. All making about 1 million or so per year had great seasons. Boyle 11 goals 10 assists I think in limited 4th line minutes not playing every game. Heinen had 20 or close to it. ERod tore it up at times and provided offense when the top guys were out or in slumps. Those are the signings you need. Not a grinder like McGinn for 3 million a year. Not a bunch of average d-men for 4+ a year. Not an aging forward who can’t stay healthy ever for 5.5. Be smarter with the cap.

  2. I'd definitely cancel Geno out of there too….71 and 17 out of the lineup I'd rather keep 58…

  3. He is staying on a very reasonable contract 6 years $30.75 with AAV of $5.125 per year I love it. I was hoping Rust would stay.
