I found this amazing series of Makar highlight videos from the 21-22 season. He looks sharper in these clips than he did all last season imho. He’s already been quoted in the Athletic re: his injuries:

Do we know what was ailing him? Hips/ knees? I hope he can recover and continue improving his skating because he really is at the vanguard of how hockey is played. Speculation welcome, “My cousin’s sister is a massage therapist and her former classmate worked on Cale and said” welcome, etc.
What do we see/ imagine for Cale this year? Is he better?

He had a knee and hip issue that limited his skating. To this point its not anything that requires a procedure. That part I know for sure.
Speculation time. I don’t think he fully recovered from that headshot. He seemed tentative afterwards and did not tend to play as aggressively as he had earlier in the year.
