Don't do it we have making of a real good Fast skilled big and the might need an other good tough guy to help weapon X .
They would never want that much, they're cap SQUEEZED, not tight, squeezed. So what would they do with several players totalling a much higher cap space overall than what Nylander is asking for.
They would ask trade picks though, and next year ones to finally get some decent D guy in their depleted pool (abysmal compared to the Habs or the CBJ), and that's a commodity Kent Hughes will be cautious to let go of after having already sacrificed enough to get Newhook.

yeah okay, i love these trade ideas. I don't even know if I want Nylander FOR FREE if he's going to cost 10 million a year… at 9 im curious but not for any roster players let alone Caufield
NO TRADE FOR CAUFIELD. If it was just free agent signature, no problems except that Nylander just want to score big money, not to bring the cup back home, nor perform. Do not bring the losing culture of Toronto to Montreal, cause if it was otherwise, the cup would have been in Toronto for a few years in a row these few past seasons, they had everything for that.
Of course, that what I say above does not implies the fact that the NHL sends the Cup where they want, and nothing else matters but the income. Toronto, nor any Canadian team, do not win the Cup cause the arenas are always filled and they don't need more income, unlike the losers in the USA. Of course the NHL is 100% rigged. And let's not talk about the income from TV… the NHL need the US networks money.

If Nylander wants to come to Montreal he just has to take highway 401 east when his contract has expired. He will finally have a real chance of winning a Stanley Cup in the most prestigious and titled Hockey organization in the world.

You're right Josh. Nylander doesn't fit the timeline for a trade due to our rebuild IMO.
It would be foolish and would make no sense for the HABS management to suddenly pull the plug on Caulfield and Slaf in order to accommodate Nylander.
Nylander would be montreals best player, would rather sign him at his ridiculous demands then see him in a habs uniform
His salary alone is already a no,and his lack of commitment sometimes is just not what we need.For 10 million we can find better.
Dach is a legit 3oa pick with a lot of talent. He had an early injury in a dumpster fire franchise so his numbers weren't showing it.
