And I’m so old I remember that Canada Cup vividly.
Memories I have:
• Eric Lindros was a force. Had 5 points in 8 games as an 18 year old against men. Afterwards he went back to Oshawa. Imagine the letdown for him?
• The Russians were pretty bad. They didn’t make the playoff round.
• Canada Vs US in the final and Suter messed up Gretzky’s back.
Not as thrilling as 1987 but still, pretty compelling stuff.
Take good care of that nice gift from your dad.

Some of the Team Canada practices for that year were just down the road from my cottage in Collingwood, ON. Met Lindros, Belfour and some others outside the rink. Still have a t-shirt around somewhere. That logo brings back memories!

Damn the beginning of the title sounded real dark, but hey you got a sweet keychain out of it!

you should look into reinforcing the hole that the keyring goes through

Damn the logo for the Finns is a bit rough to look at now.

Czechoslovakia’s last year of existence was 91, which I think makes this keychain even cooler. As a Czech I wish they would reunite again just for hockey purposes, that’s the only way I’d see them competing at the level of Canada, U.S and Russia again.

I just wanted to say that is awesome. I also admire that it is still in use – id have retired something like that to my garage bar wall. Too chicken to take it out.

Very cool! Just a tip, though… Get a small link between the fob and the key ring, to eliminate the stress on the hole in the fob. It already looks a little torqued.

This was in my hometown, I remember this happening but could not get tickets. Listened to games live on radio. Canada beat the US in the final.
Congratulations! Your dad has worked his whole adult life to provide a good life full of clothing, food, shelter, entertainment for you. He’s given up lots of his own wants/dreams to make sure you have what you want/dream of, but yeah. Take the last thing he holds dear.
