John Shannon on Tyler Myers, leadership group, Rick Tocchet’s influence, lack of practice facility

John Shannon joined the show to tell us 1/3 the league have their personnel set, so a Tyler Myers trade might be tough. John talks about how the trend around the league is to have a “leadership group” and not necessarily a captain. He also speaks to the Rick Tocchet affect on the club, and the lack of a practice facility.

  1. The Canucks lack of a proper custom practice facility is nothing short of a disgrace in today's NHL.
But that's simply a reflection of the team's poor ownership.

  2. I'm still unsure of what make Tocchet THE guy for the Canucks ? Not a great coaching record and I read an article the other day that said the opening to the seasons he's been head coach for has been pretty poor as well. So … what makes this (personality free) guy the one to turn around the Canucks ? I also don't have much faith in the front office staff either. Wanna be proven wrong but not sold on any of them thus far.

  3. The lack of a practice facility hurts, but not as much as it did last season when players arrived in Vancouver to not even have access to the player areas in Rogers (like the weight room, lockers, etc.) because of renovations that dragged on through training camp. I'm sure that had no impact on player conditioning to start off last season…
