  1. @playmkr278,

1.he clearly can't see him coming, and he clearly hits him with his fucking elbow. that being said.. look at the video at :25, tell me there's no elbow there.

    2. even if mcdonagh was trying to draw a penalty.. he doesn't have eyes on the back of his head that tell him, "hmm, i think matt cooke is coming to cheap shot me"

    3. Even if Mc D was hit by a player without priors he would have been ejected.. because the principal point of contact was the head

    4. you're a fucking idiot

  2. Matt Cooke can brag about what a "changed man" he is. He's still a piece of shit and he always will be. Give him a few weeks, he'll be throwing his elbow at someone's head before long.

  3. @playmkr278 You earn reputations by your actions.

Cooke made no attempt to deliver a clean check, clearly and blatantly threw his elbow out directly at Ryan McDonagh's head. That's a major penalty regardless of who delivers the elbow, injury or not.

  4. @blinkjagr Tell that to Marc Savard. Ask him if he will be able to sit in a fully lit room for the rest of his life.

  5. The irony of this: Since this hit and the ensuing suspension, Cooke has had 7 minor penalties against him called in 46 games since (as of this post)—total.

  6. @AEMoreira81 I'm not a Cooke defender even, but facts are facts…but his 14 PIMs consider that he is only one of 4 Pens to dress for every game this year.

  7. Rangers fan or not, that was a simple, straight up shit hit. Anyone that pulls shit like that on anyone deserves to be sat down.

  8. @Owlz28: irrelevant. Even if Cooke builds church with money he gets from donating his blood, he is remembered for, and will forever be remembered for, absolutely nothing except THESE.

  9. 10 game suspension for this, where as Torres gets 25 for his hit on Hossa…. Yes, Torres is a repeat offender and has also thrown a few dirty hits, but come on. After the Savard hit and then this shit- he shouldn't be in the league anymore. I wouldn't brake if I saw him crossing the road.

  10. Because their Pittsburgh, and their franchise is whinny hypocritical garbage…I'm glad Cooke got suspended big time for this

  11. Mario Lemieux employing this scumbag while whining about headshots and cheapshots in the league is a fucking joke. But he's always been a whiner, ever since he broke into the league, and now he breeds whiners like Sid Crosby.

  12. ended the career of a player like cooke who targeted the head. cooke has tried to end careers and did a good job ending savards.

  13. Do all players who clean up their act belong there? 19 goals last year that's 4th or 5th on a lot of NHL clubs..

  14. Quit crying about Savard's career ending already. He hardly severed Karlsson's Achilles on purpose. If he hadn't played that way to begin with he wouldn't be in the NHL. His way of playing; every team had a guy or 2 that played the same style when he entered the league. Cooke is a great pk and was part of the best 3rd line in the nhl from 08-10. If he didn't have talent he would be jobless instead of being in Minn for 2 years.

  15. I remember watching this and said to myself Cooke will never learn. Next day Colin Campbell laid the hammer down on him and rightfully so. Cooke deserved the long suspension he got from this. You can only do this so many times and get warning after warning.

  16. McDonaghs onest the toughest players in the league to this day (9 years later and he is playing in the cup finals). After this game reports asked him about it and he was extremely classy about this whole situation. What a horrible cheap shot. Could have ended a career
