No matter which outlet you follow, the Vancouver Canucks prospect pool is considered mediocre at best. At worst? Well, it’s considered one of the worst groups of prospects in the entire NHL.

Is the Prospect pool really that bad…
Greetings gentlemen!
Jonathan will get his Blue Chip Creds back this year. And as few guys that we have they are okay. Our pool would be worse if not for those college guys. Hirose etc. And I think the pool is better than they think. The league does not want teams to get a advantage. The reason for no coaches. As for our pool there are no 1st line player, but many can fill other roles on the team. A few. I think Klimovich will be up soon and we will get to see what he can do. Karlsson has a chance.Raty, funny I give Sasson a chance to. We don't draft well but a lot of these guys play.Maybe not for us anymore but spread around the league. And I think we did well drafting this year. Elias Petterson is going to be a good defenseman. He has a legit chance at making the team one day. A lot of our prospects will have a cup of coffee in the NHL. McCaan was the best prospect we gave up. Our prospect pool is going to raise a bit by mid season.
I don't see how not wanting to be injected with experimental pharmaceutical drugs is political but sure Harpoon and I will make our own Podcast and call it "Canucks Unlocked" 😛
The team has been at this level many many times with poorest prospect pool
Guys – great discussion today. I think one thing that has bothered me about the prospect pipeline for the Vancouver Canucks isn't that they don't have prospects – Lekkerimaki, Willander, Raty, Pettersson2, Klimovich…it's just that outside of Willander, I'm not sure about the guys I just mentioned as being 'elite' and then when I look at the rest of the team's talent in Abbotsford – ie. McDonough, Karlsson, Bains, Woo, etc….good young players, but guys who I see as bottom six NHL forward potential or third pair defensemen. I will admit that if he is handled properly and not rushed too soon, Arturs Silovs could be an NHL starting goalie one day.
Here's my point: could these younger players help the Canucks in future years? Yes they could. Do other NHL teams (especially in the Pacific ) have better prospects coming in – elite NHL prospect who can help their teams even more than the prospects in the Canucks pool? YES.
Dating back to Benning, but even this current regime, trading away draft picks hasn't helped – Hronek for a first AND a second (with a fourth coming back)? Hronek better pan out in Vancouver. One issue I have with the current management team: playing to win games when Tocchet arrived with one of the easiest NHL schedules after the Christmas break this past season and with no hope of making the playoffs…the Canucks could have drafted as low as 5th but decided to play Hughes 25 plus minutes per game….same with Petey and Miller….and then the Canucks ended up drafting 11th instead.
Well they drafted lekkermakki who is small slow soft and stupid thats why our pool of prospects isnt great
