In this edition of Locked on Capitals Dan talks about Alex Ovechkin and his thoughts on fighting in the NHL. He said he doesn’t like fighting, but he will if he has to. He talked about his first impression of American hockey and how they even had a punching bag in the locker room. Later Dan talks about Vincent Iorio and how he missed his time with the Calder Cup. He said that there was a form he was supposed to fill out but forgot to. In the final segment Dan talks about Rasmus Sandin and how he appears to be a top 4 defenseman this year for the Capitals.

  1. I have never expected Ovi to fight but I do like the hits, which is also physical toughness. I do think he was forced to tone down some of the hits a number of years ago after a suspension, which is a shame. I think this was a conscious decision of the NHL officiating to limit some hits which handicapped one part of Ovi's game. With his size, I think it made some hits more severe. Ovi would have thrived in the NHL in the 60s and 70s which is not true of every player. He has the size, physicality, skills, and durability to do so. I don't think it's true of all players.
