  1. Well what a shock a guy who is more committed to the team is the captain. Also the captain is never always the best player.

  2. Loki at one Patterson as wall but excellent point was made The contract situation is not the greatest would you name Captain of the guy who has one year left and it leaves and free agency or name a player who already has a long-term contract for the team

  3. Elias doesn’t sound like he wants to take on the leadership role and focus on his own game. Quinn on the other hand looks like he’d want to have the C so this isn’t as shocking to me

  4. Petey made it very clear that he wasn't against being a captain, but wanted to be sure he could do it before he said yes. He's never been captain at any level of hockey so it would've been a new role for him.

I don't think this is related to his contract at all.

  5. Cancks fan here. 100% the next captain should be Hughes, he has stepped up in a big way on and off the ice.

  6. It'll be interesting to see how this all plays out, with Pettersson's contract situation and with the Devils (allegedly) actively pursuing a trade for Quinn Hughes, to unite all three Hughes brothers in New Jersey.

  7. I think they should give it to Miller, NO QUESTION. Why saddle a youngster, who is only supposed to be concentrating on continuing to develop into a superstar, with all that responsibility? Miller is signed LONG term, has taken over the de facto Captainship on the ice last season, and is finally, as we watch the transformation before our eyes, maturing into a family man, and responsible player, has been OVER a point a game scorer in his career as a Canuck, BLEEDS emotion and will to win, and can settle easily into the job being a captain entails. Let "the kids" have their LIFE, their single LIFE, let them have their fun when they're not working, and allow them to concentrate on their development when they are working. Miller needs to be wearing The "C" come opening day faceoff! Cheers!!

  8. I like that he put the Canucks scoring against the Stars as he says “it’s written in the stars” 😂

On the topic of this video, both these guys seem like Captain material, so I wouldn’t be surprised if one of them is named the Captain.

  9. I don't Quinn becoming captain is going to be a big deal. Quinn wants to win, and Canucks management still thinks it's 2011. If Petterson walks, then that's going to force Vancouver to finally blow this core up and start rebuilding, and if that happens, Quinn is going to demand a trade. No way Quinn is gonna waste his career being Jack and Luke's cheerleader.

  10. Your superstar forward isn’t always the best fit for a captaincy. Let’s go Quinny!

  11. Quinn has grown up around a professional hockey environment his entire life, with his dad heavily involved with the Toronto Maple Leafs. Quinn's been skating with NHLers since he was a small child. Petterson is the best player on the team, but he lacks some key leadership qualities that would make him a good captain. Bo Horvat's word doesn't mean shit, because he's not exactly Captain material himself.
