For years of brutal dysfunction and losing both Draisaitl and McDavid both fully committed to Edmonton of all places signing max-year contracts. And they say stuff like, “I want to win and I want to win in Edmonton.” They always think of the perception of the fans.
If Hughes captains the team it would take a load off my mind if he started to use language like that, that his thought process is retiring a legendary Canuck who bleeds inside every second he’s not hoisting Vancouver’s first cup. I know there’s no guarantees but I’d love to have the feeling that he doesn’t even consider playing with his brothers in four years. Guys like Naslund and Linden and Henrik… I knew they wanted to captain this and no other team to the cup.

I trust Dhaliwal when he said all signs point to Hughes being the next captain. The Hughes family is ultra-competitive so this should be a natural fit for Quinn.
It’ll be nice to see this team with a Captain again. I hope his reign is more fruitful than Bo’s was in Vancouver!
